This is quite nice game. I especially like bombing missions. Aerial missions are great too. Strafing missions are mostly ok, except some of them are practically impossible.
I have played this game to over 100 missions couple of times, but never completed it before.
There is total of 243 missions. Basically there is three types of missions so it may get bit boring to watch them all. I would actually recommend to watch maybe two or three of every type of missions and then just skip combats and read flight journal. You'll have to pause for journal as I skipped them to cut video short (didn't work out very well).
Two strafing missions were too hard for me but all other missions are completed succesfully.

Cinemaware was so cool. Greatest stories that gaming had ever seen. Excellent graphics, cool music. Not sure a gaming company will ever be able to replicate what they did almost 30 years ago. Amazing innovation.

Loved this game 💙 .. the atmosphere, the diary, the front line stories from other parts of the war .. and the MUSIC .. I can replay it in my head now - 25 years later 💛 This game made me read and learn A LOT about WW1 :)

Their is something so pure about this game. The choppy 3D is so fitting and playable, the 2D sections are so well drawn and fun. the music is so right for this game, and the presentation is fantastic.... its a master piece!

Loved this game. I also remember the strafing missions being a pain though - I remember having three really tough missions in a row (two may have been strafing runs and the other was a dogfight against 10 enemy aircraft) and because I had failed the two strafing runs the airforce would have kicked me out if I failed the dogfight (despite being the leading ace of any nationality with over 150 kills! lol). Luckily I got through it.

I still remember my first ever experience with the first strafing level. I was only about 7 or 8 so when I saw those first-aid trucks I thought there'd be nothing more effective against the enemy than blowing up all their medical resources. I was a bit confused when I finished the level and found out I'd be disciplined for it lol

What a fantastic game ..... And the best part is the historical angle of this game. It feels like being a WW1 Pilot from start to end. I wish someone makes a game like this for the next gen konsoles. I would love to Play more Retro games that are based in the 20s-30s century. How about a Call of Duty WW1 game.

Hey everyone I spent months of my life playing this. I just wish the computer could have been faster. It was very slow with many planes on the screen. I remember it was very sad when the other pilots of your squadron died one after the other. After a while only you were left of the old guys. Fantastic atmosphere

One of those games you needed the 1MB memory extension for. Basically a memory stick that had an on/off switch and was hanging off the Amiga by a cable😂 tots ghetto but I remember the day I got that extension and was finally able to play this game. Unrepeatable moment ❤

Remember this one like it was yesterday. Many hours spent shooting down them biplanes. I can't remember when this game was released but I started out with an Amiga 2k in the late eighties, bought an Amiga 4k later on which I kept using until late nineties. Those were the days. Taught myself to write Motorola 680x0 assembler which was a pleasure, and C/C++ later on. Really a shame Commodore failed so miserably in terms of marketing. Amigas were so far ahead compared to Macintosh, Atari and IBM PC compatible home computers when they came out only to lose ground year after year because of terrible management.

As a kid i literally played this for about a year non stop , remember getting hit by AA fire n ur plane veering to the right as you tried to down that last boche plane before u crashed , the story was amazing n u felt gutted when one of ur comrades got " Downed " , this just made you wanna take to the skies again n avenge the death . Dont make em like this anymore .

Cineware were the masters of oozing atmosphere from their games. Wings was wonderful. I almost cried when I completed it as - I shit you not - `The Scorpions - Wings of Change` came on the radio at the exact moment the end credits rolled. I had something in both of my eyes at that moment I can tell you. :-\ Marvellous game. Great music. Haunting atmosphere throughout.

You gotta love how opponents planes are red ........ while in reality, only Manfred's triplane Fokker was red (just to show no matter how visible target he is, he'll still win a dogfight). He flew many missions with biplane. And literally noone else ever had red plane.

@cubex55 All the soundtracks I found for Wings contained the same files in .CIN format (a format used by Cinemaware for just this game), and it can't be played with DeliPlayer. How could we get them playable then? :(

Great game, actually finished it myself back in the day with the same pilot eventualy after numerous silly deaths like crashing into a team mate, and getting shot down due to unbeatable odds thinking I was the red baron, I learned you could ditch. Like the game says...there's honour in just staying alive :)

I had more than once teary eyes playing the game. The journal entries had gotten me so hooked up, I couldn't help myself when I lost a comrade. The second disk, where the game was saved, became corrupted so often that I had three copies of it and changed after every mission :-) good old times.

I got good enough as a dogfighter that I could take on any number of enemy aircraft. So when I did a sortie with a wingman or two I would shoot up my wingmen until they were almost ridden with bullet holes. The Boche pilots would then finish the job, and i would finish off the Boche. Also wish they did a Central Powers career mode as well.

I tried playing this recently on my 1200 030/50, but it seems like the acceleration causes the battles to be extremely short (the counter expires too rapidly). Shame nobody AFAIK has patched it.
