Parents are young, my brother and I get up in the middle of the night, put a blanket around the door so no light will seep thru the door. We would play it until I fall sleep watching my brother play. Childhood is somerhing else. Even when I was a child, I was aware of this. Good times, this calms me down.

As for me, the *best sound* version is here, on Amiga - so crispy and laconic. 💪🔥 The icon of sifi games. Most powerful (in game) gun ever, btw.
@Okazu84 Жыл бұрын
I only recently noticed that this version (just like the Atari St one that I noticed years ago) lacks a whole sequence starting @19:00. On the PC/Snes/Genesis versions, your alien friend actually doesn't drop you in front of the tank but rather in a different, upper part of the building and from there you have a pretty decent and intense sub-chapter to complete before you finally get to the tank.
@drkamilz7 жыл бұрын
I still remember (probably same year it came out) seeing the same intro those with also showing part of 1st level on a window of a computer shop, and I had still C64 back than. Fluency of animation of main character so amazed me, it was nothing like that I've seen before. As a long time computer user and a gamer, similar experience I had like this are extremely rare. Well done Chahi.

"My inspiration for the art style came partly from the technical choice to use polygons for the graphics and also from my love of fantasy illustrators such as Michael Whelan and Richard Corben. The Amiga was a revolution for me; its power and versatility allowed me to create Another World in a very fluid, improvisational way. I would often randomly sketch and explore different combinations of pixels to find the right feeling for a face or a shape. Deluxe Paint allowed me to do this very quickly. In fact, the software was so ahead of its time we were still using it on Heart of Darkness in 1997." -- Eric Chahi, designer, programmer and graphic artist (Another World/Out of this World, Amiga)

Probably the first cinematic platformer/adventure game was Karateka, then Prince of Persia and then Another World. The difference is that Another World had more sophisticated animations and cutscenes never seen before. And it was made in the year when most people still had 8-bit computers and consoles unable to render any sophisticated animation.

I also had no idea you could just kick the slugs... just played through it on a PS5 at normal. Died a bunch of times on the slugs when trying to jump over them and finally succeeded. The controls are so sluggish tbh, pun intended. Puzzle solving needs a definitive mindset and a bit of knowledge how these games generally work.

@AL82RetrogamingLongplays7 жыл бұрын
Yes, you get to control the buttons - the only one you need to press is the top-left green (which activates the ejector). The rest fire various laser cannons and missiles into the arena - it's a rare moment of humour as you're the one with all the power at that moment.
