It really beats the shit out of me how Amii Stewart’s cover of the Box Tops classic didn’t become another Top-40 smash. She had the pipes, the musicians and the backup vocalists were right on time, and “The Letter” sunk to the bottom and stayed there. This was a great dance number!

Sadly this only peaked at No 39 in the UK Charts in Jan 1980. I loved it though and bought it on 12" Vinyl. Side B to this was another great tune.... Paradise Bird. Thanks for the memories

It was Soviet Union. Due to law I had to serve in Soviet Army I was 18. In last party our organizer Ludmila Lidjieva switched on this record. It was in village Sarpa in Kalmykia.

Kalmykia was one of region of former Soviet Union. Now I am 100 year). Nevertheless I switch on this record of Amii Stewart with pleasure. It's my nostalgia, my all !
