this is genuinely better than the ending they gave us. you took everything i ever wanted, smashed them together, and created in-character (minor and major) plots that would fit into the show perfectly while not being entirely fanservice and including the sweet angst and frustration we suffer because of merlin. I would, without a doubt, rather watch these as seasons 4 and 5 and someone needs to hire you so this can actually happen

When Gwaine confronts Arthur, saying that he's actually there for Merlin and that Arthur should basically just get over himself, it would be amazing if Gwaine said: "Arthur. Be honest with yourself. Merlin is the best thing that could ever happen to all of us... Just... Think about it, alright?" And then he just slowly walks out of the door and the camera cuts to Arthur, who furrows his brow and lies down in his bed and just starts crying. (Bonus: then we get a flashback moment where you see their friendship slowly develop over the course of time) I know it's a bit cheesy, but it would be amazing

Somehow I also want Arthur to realise how many awful things he's said to Merlin and apologise for it. When Merlin summons those dragons, Arthur should realise that he is a dragonlord and have this sort of epiphany on why Merlin reacted so emotionally when Balinor died and then have Arthur be seriously sorry that he basically told Merlin that his father was not worth crying over for.

4:05 that's kind of how their voices sound to me too XD This is so perfect. I never really realized that one of the main things the show was leading up to (the return of magic) never actually happened... all that happened was Melin's heart getting smashed into tiny magical, gay, pieces. Also, I definitely agree that we deserved to see a magical rampage. I have read so many magical rampage fanfictions, but none of them seem to be able to fill the magical rampage sized hole in my heart. I can just imagine Gwaine trying to make a joke about how him and Merlin sleeping together and then realizing that it's not funny anymore because Merlin's gone. I think that would happen right before he goes up to Arthur and is all like "Screw you. Imma go find my boi Merlin!" The Agravaine fan club is where every awful fan club goes to die. I swear it would've been so much more powerful if the big angst-fest, with Merlin revealing his powers, happened at the end of S4 so we'd have all of S5 to deal with the aftermath and i dunno maybe developing a happy ending and actually fulfilling his destiny like we'd been hearing about since day 1. I reckon having all the deaths in the last episode actually made it lose some of its impact, because we know it's the last episode and we know we're never going to see these characters again anyway- what makes character deaths so tragic isn't the actual death, but the reaction and the grief that their loved ones have to live with in the aftermath. And we only got to see a few minutes of that.

I want huge emotional scene were they say things that were always left unsaid, Merlin apologizing for not telling Arthur about his magic, but also telling him why he did so (just like the forest scene), but Arthur listening to him, seeing all the things Merlin did for him, and bc he loves Merlin too much that he would never live without him - he just stares into his eyes and crying. Merlin is already traring up saying all stories he had never told Arthur, then he skips to the part why he did all of this and he can't help, but says he loves Arthur. That leaves the king just staring at Merlin with no words to say. Merlin repeats "because I love you and I could never let you die." He moves closer to Arthur and holds out his hand, he needs Arthur to tell him it's okay, and we won't ever do anything bad to him, he hopes the king will hold his hand to reassure him that he won't let go of him just bc of this lie. Merlin still is waiting for Arthur response and while he id still crying he isn't taking his etes off Arthur. Arthur couldn't hold it any longer when Merlin with brojen voice says "do you... love me?" - he just kisses him softly, while he does a little smile appears on his face. When they pull back they are both half crying half smiling at each other. Merlin is being court SORCERER and everyone is happy. The ending scene would be just as you said.

Also: I think, during season 5, while Arthur is being an angsty little arsehole, there would have to be a bit where Gwen and Arthur have a deep conversation that talks about how Arthur has more chemistry with Merlin than Gwen, because series 1-3 already delves into the relationship with Gwen and Arthur. Merlin was based off of a legend about King Arthur, so they ended the series with Arthur dying because that's how it was in the legend. 😭😭😭
