I'm pretty they were driving the point of soulmates for the first good half of the show. Definitely in series 1. And how I interpreted their relationship and bond was both of them are created from magic, but it was the same magic that was split into creating the both of them. I am currently rewatching it. My ultimate OTP. Before watching Merlin it was Destiel, but it soon became Merthur, like I didnt know the meaning of OTP until Merthur.... I cried like a baby when it ended. SPOILER: i did not know arthur would die in the end. I didnt know anything about the story before watching it. I am not exaggerating when I say that it took me almost a week to stop crying everytime I rememberd the last episode. Also.. I relate to this video on a spiritual level

@@Mobsy1905 Tyvm for the link. It looks very much like it is the one AMillionMadMusings was referring to in the above clip. However, Colin didn't seem to blush when he said 'Merlin never gets a love. Or when he does they kill him... or her.' He goes on to explain the writers immediately killed his father, they killed his friends (referring to Will) and of course Freya. Hard to hear (and out of sight) but Bradley says something about Merlin's love while Colin refers to Merlin's 'one love' who is Arthur obviously.

Oh my gosh! MERTHUR! Thank you so much for doing a video about them, they are one of the best ships ever! I remember back when I watched Merlin for the first time me and my mum were sat watching an episode in about series 3 or 4. They were just about to go into battle, and Arthur was telling Merlin it was going to be ok, and something like "no man is worth your tears". And I just yelled at the tv "JUST KISS HIM!" I completely forgot my mum was there, and I blushed so hard! This was before I came out to my mum, and just the look of confused disgust on her face was priceless. I stand by that statement to this day, I will always believe he should have kissed him😉.

Sounds like s02e13. Arthur is about to face the rampaging Kilgharrah and Merlin doesn't know yet if he will be able to get to the dragon before he does any harm to Arthur. Plus Merlin just lost his father he barely got to know for a few hours and is facing the prospect of losing Arthur too. No wonder he is 'serious' preptalking to Arthur and cautioning him while on the verge of crying.
