Thank you! This is permaculture heaven for me. All that lushness. Hopefully they keep expanding the wall northward, which I truly believe can happen. It will help if we can change larger scale farming practices everywhere to something closer to restoration ag, a la Mark Shepard. This will further support regreening into drier areas. This will bring more food diversity to the local and global marketplace, localize resilience everywhere, as well as economic prosperity.

Hi, if you are interested in sharing ideas, I used to help run a project that did school gardens and environmental education. If you don't mind answering, is there any cooking going on at the schools? You could use the grey water from the kitchens to water at least some plants. There are videos by Andrew Millison on how to do this. You could also look into drip irrigation. We used to have a college professor who gave us workshop on different farming techniques so that we could adapt the ideas for the children.

It's not intended to be used for producing lots of food to export, but to alleviate local poverty while leaving them with an environment that's healthy and invokes a sense of pride and personal investment. What an inspiring video! Thank you, Andrew. We have planted over 120 fruit, nut and shade trees on our little homestead in Texas. They are starting to produce. We have fruit enough to share. Such a joy.

WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As a student studying urban design and ecology in college, this is really amazing to see the real life applications of the theory I learn in my classes. I hope to learn from people who live off the land and incorporate their ideas and values into city landscapes across the world. It's easy to feel hopeless but it's important to remember that all of us can help solve this problem together!!!!!!!!!

This is really inspirational! I love that the students not only become teachers, but they also start providing trees for other community members. What a beautiful way to strengthen a community ♥️

I have a friend who works for a charity NGO in Kenia and they are also planting thousands of different species of trees to fight off climate change. In a way, they are much more proactive than we are. Im going to share this amazing project with him . Thankyou for this uplifting post.

They would never be able to grow the trees without the additional Co2. Thank god, we are going above the minimum of 200ppm of Co2 that plants need to survive.

My husband and I plant ‘Anniversa-trees’ each year. This year we’ll be planting 12 trees. It’s such a fun tradition! Glad to see such a robust and impactful way your groups are collaborating for people and for trees!

Almost 8,000 more trees! C'mon folks! This video has me almost shaking with excitement. In the midst of all the bad news, especially on the climate emergency front, projects like this can get me out of bed in the morning. Thank you, thank you for sharing this inspiration - I'll be sharing it with all my permaculture friends in Africa. With love from western Canada.

not 8000 more trees, 8000 more little forests. Thats nearly 160000 trees if every little forest has 20 trees in it.

Eventually, if a forest was created - the desert could be slowly reclaimed

Here's another comment! Thank you, Andrew for bringing us so many awesome, inspiring examples of hard working people using these methods to re-generate their own environments into thriving communities, ending decades of land degradation and misery. All they need is the knowledge of how to transform their homeland, erasing the need to migrate to cities and other countries, to remain in their ancestral homelands living a contented life of plenty. And thank you to these dedicated NGOs and local grass-roots orgs who provide this knowledge and permaculture methodology. BRAVO!!!

This is really interesting how the community is building itself up by having graduates of the program later give back and supply other classes with aid. Thank you for sharing!
