Amino acids can help to naturally reduce fatigue, stress, anxiety and sugar cravings.
Amino acids are found in various foods in small amounts. Identifying what neurotransmitters you are deficient in can help you to properly use amino acids to improve your symptoms of fatigue, stress, anxiety and sugar cravings without the side effects of conventionally prescribed drugs that do not get to the root cause of the issue.

Good informative video. I came across Amino acids several years ago and can say they really do work. My favourite combination taken first thing in the morning is 500 mg L-Tyrosine followed about 30 minutes later with a B-Complex usually taken with a Banana. Amino acids are so important and effective I also take a full spectrum amino acid supplement on regular basis ( 2 - 3 times a week ) You should continue with more videos on Amino Acids and their role in mental, emotional and physical health.

Great video but one thing this video misses is to NEVER mix 5 htp and L tryptophan. I accidentally did that last year and came down with serotonin syndrome. That was a scary thing. Your nervous system can go from depressed to over active in no time and it can be potentially deadly.

tryptophan is much safer. it only delivers building blocks but it does not mess with the body's control loop. 5-htp goes beyond that control loop and that can get messy.

On a side note Evan in my earlier research I discovered that phenylalanine easily converts to l-tryptophan. What is interesting is that alcohol is broken down into phenylalanine and formaldehyde. Ironically the aspartame in diet soda is also broken down into phenylalanine and formaldehyde. With this knowledge I have recommended people trying to stop or reduced their alcohol consumption to switch to a diet soda or supplement with an aspartame sweetener. Just food for thought :)

I tried l theanine but surprisingly it had an adverse effect on my ocd and generalised anxiety disorder. Planning to take gaba now as there is a possibility of it providing you relief via the spine.... The gut and the brain are connected via spine. Advice would be to start with small doses for anyone.

I had a doc tell me that he was more than 95% sure that I have a dopamine deficiency. At first, I thought he was just randomly implying that I probably don't like roller coasters or parachuting. However, after some googling, I was impressed with how accurate my doc was. I also have high functioning autism and have tried to do the gaps diet for leaky gut/ candida numerous times but I just don't have the endurance to stick with bone broth and all of it's kin. I do periodically wrestle with depression. What can I do

+Evan Brand Thanks Evan, but I'm in the UK. I have had 23 years of chronic illness, so it's extremely complicated!!!! Could I just ask one question? I have been on Amitriptyline (Elavil) approx 40mg (although I did go up to 70mg) per day, for just over a year. It was prescribed for severe idiopathic pain from my butt to my toes (meaning that for the past 5½ yrs, I have had to lie down, as it's too painful to sit. I realise it is dangerous, but I decided to try 5htp this year. I have tolerated it fine, but at the same time, it appears to not have helped in any way. I recently increased it from 150-200mg a day. Since going on the Amitriptyline, I have gained 2½ stone. I have never had a problem with my weight before, and it's made me very miserable, esp as I am disabled, very ill, and unable to exercise. I was able to drop 1 stone earlier in the year, with diet, but since then have put most of it back on through stress eating (mainly due to pain, my benefit being cut, but also just having a horrible life, losing my mum; my only family etc). Amitriptyline is also well know for huge amounts of weight gain, plus I am in my menopause, which probably isn't helping. I am now going to try again with trying to lose weight, and am going to start L-Tyrosine to try and help my out of control cravings. Just today, I read that taking 5htp alone, can lead to dopamine deficiency!! I had no idea!! I don't doubt that my dopamine levels are severely low though. I have no money to see a private nutritionist, and the regular Dr's in the UK don't know anything about supplements, and don't test your neurotransmitter levels. Just with my immediate situation, could you advise on whether or not to start cutting down on the 5htp, and/or how much to take with the L-Tyrosine? The diet that I am going to try suggests 3g in the morning. My life is extremely stressful, and has been for a very long time. I am completely alone in life, and have nobody to help out, no family, and no friends close by. There is nothing I can do to help my situation. Thank you

Great video! Very good at explaining the complex and making it simple for us simple people, lol, thank you! I definitely believe I am low on serotonin, I read a book by Julia Ross called The Mood Cure and I took the test questions that she had in her book and I came out the highest on low serotonin, I love sweets ever since I was a kid,and I had a very traumatic thing happen to me 16 years ago, I am depressed and anxious all of the time and a lot of it is stress induced. Life has not been fun in quite awhile, sigh.... I have been also listening Dr. Frank Shallenberger on KZbin about adrenal fatigue [ if you haven't heard of him, look him up, he also talks about amino acids for mental health and you guys seem to be on the same page], almost everything he mentioned about it lines up exactly with me and how I feel, just burnt out. My question is I feel I am low on GABA too along with the serotonin, should I work on restoring the serotonin first because I scored the highest in this category on the test or work on the GABA and serotonin together? Thank you VERY much, Tim.

Hi Evan, i really enjoyed the video. I have tested and I have depleted in 4 essential amino acids due to stress and poor diet. Your video really explains why Ive had anxiety, panic, extreme fatigue and depression, malnutrition and muscle and weight loss. I had no lifestyle factors that could've contributed to it so I knew it was some kind of chemical imbalance. Ive got a compound pharmacist making me a customised mix of amino acids. How long do you expect I will start to feel a difference? Ive depleted on tyrosine, tryptophan, lysine and glysine.
@EvanBrand
@EvanBrand 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenny, yes amino acid supplementation can help, but you also want to make sure that you are digging for the root causes. Why the amino acids are low in the first place is important. Low stomach acid, eating while in a rush, h pylori, candida, etc. There are things that should be ruled in/out.

Hey Evan. I'd like to hear, what would you say could cause stuttering, because I sometimes have problems. I'm actually anxious about everything, and I can drink tea and I'm awake for 10 hours or so. So I think I'm high in dopamine and low in gaba. Anyway, I've always been very ambitious, what I now know is probably caused by my high levels of dopamine. I've recently experienced low self-esteem(after I started eating dairy after all life without) and I found out today, that it too in my case is caused by neutransmitter imbalance. Sometimes I'm happy with my problems, because they led me to a huge knowledge, which will count to the end of my life. I'll be grateful for your answer about stuttering, thanks in advice! :)

I'm taking Perfect Amino. I've been on it for 3 days. Now, I'm watching videos on amino acids to learn. The supplement world is so confusing. Try Perfect Amino, it has a 90 day return policy if it doesn't help.

Seems like something was wrong with what you took to be honest because it can not do that to you unless you take too much. Should not exceed 5 grams per day. Get it checked at doctor to see if it is something else that is not as it should be .

Great vid and very very useful - my only question, I thought that GABA was in equilibrium at something like 1:1000 or 1:10000with a related compound that was small enough to cross the BBB, which was why people get an effect off gaba. I want to say GHB but I'll have to go an look it up to be sure

If we take GABA everyday, can our own body just stop producing it? Can we get addicted to it like Benzo's? There are a lot of such theories on the internet and I don't know what to believe.

Tachan noone thinks like that its amino acid .. its food u eat so it gets regulated well .. i know gaba sounds weird i suggest l theanine instead .. its supported and approved better than gaba and u can mix it with coffee we always love gaba got advantage which is .. gaba ... no precursor nothing its straight forward the story of bbb .. every thing u eat affects the brain by the bbb mechanism or others mechanisms .. u give the body raw things .. it breaks them down and makes things it needs .. all it needs is time .. there is another way to get gaba whi h is taking glutamine with l theanine .. found it here in youtube search it

I got 3 stomach ulcers & inflammation in my stomach. I lost 18 pounds of muscle, got joint pain & always tired. Anybody with my condition cannot break down protein, carbs & fats. I'd like to kno if i take amino acids, would i be able to build muscle again? Being that amino acids are broken down to its smallest form protein.
