Amira is now 20 and her voice is being shared across the world by hundreds of millions. Although operatic arias are still her favourite songs, she has a wide repertoire of classic crossover, musicals, hymns, etc. She sings in around 11 languages, being fluent in Dutch, Afrikaans, and English. She is currently studying music at Pretoria University. You have a lot of catching up to do.

Amira taught herself to sing by watching KZbin videos. Before her HGT audition she had no singing lessons. What you hear in that audition (for English speakers) is her raw talent and naturally confident and calm stage presence.

Two years of self training with the TV. Her mother thought she was listening to Maria Callas upstairs. The Dutch pronunciation is VILLighoggan.

Oh yes, Amira is something else. She is 18 now and about to leave school. She is planning a world tour, and then to go to music college. There is a whole heap of stuff on you tube of her singing, being interviewed, a lot of it is eye opening. All of it is enjoyable. Andre Rieu got her age wrong, she was 10 when she sung with him, she was only 9 when she auditioned for Hollands got talent. She moved to South Africa, where her mother is from, when she was 14. The schools were more flexible over her performing, and the foundation she set up to help poor children of that region was handier. She speaks Dutch, Africaans and English fluently, but will sing in any language called for, Italian, as here, Latin, French, German, Spanish, Swedish. You name it. She has a beautiful personality, and is revered by her fans.

What an angel. So talented and generous. She gives half of her income to a foundation she created to build playgrounds for the kids in underfunded schools in South Africa. She is also very spiritual and loves God, and thanks him for her creative gifts!

Andre Riew, the conductor, incorrectly states Amira’s age as 9. By the time of this concert, in the summer of 2014, Amira had passed her 10th birthday in Marche 2014 since she was born about March 27, 2004. Andre met Amira on Dutch TV in Novermbe4 2013 shortly (a few days) after her audition on “Holland’s Got Talent” singing the same song, O Mio Bambino Caro. So, he may have remembered her age from that time. He invited her to a “master class” & she accepted. He had her stretch her notes, I believe. He was probably her first vocal coach. That was probably in early December 2013. From then on, she did have vocal training. She went to the semi-final on 12/21/2013 where she sang Ava Mara & to the final on 12/28/2013 where she sang Nessun Dorma. She won the 2013 of Holland’s Got Talent and was sent to Las Vegas with her family as the prize. She shas continued singing. In 2018, she, her brother Fincent (Vincent), and her mother moved to South Africa, the birth nation of her mother, from the Netherlands, the birth place of Amira. Amira speaks Dutch, Afrikander, and English, at least. She commonly sings in Italian since many arias are in Italian, but I do not know if she understands it in general or not. On can type her name in KZbin and find many songs by her. Some of them are: O Solo Mio (duet), Nella Fantasia, Flower Duet (also a duet), Amazing Grace, a “Sound of Music Medley”, I’ll Walk with God (from the movie The Student Prince), The Lord’s Prayer, The Litle Drummer Boy, Ava Maria by Gomez, “Time to Say Goodbye”, Caruso and many Christmas songs and even the Star Spangled Banner and I Feel Pretty (from West Side Story, I believe). She has at least three DVDS, plus a couple or more streaming concerts. She plans to go on a world tour and the attend a university of college in Capetown, South Africa. She lives in the northwest of South Africa near the Atlantic Ocean. Her foundation, “Lucky Kids” in English, has funded 18 playgrounds for poor African children who live in that area. She seems to be religious in a cheerful, socially aware manner. She has helped with the funding for raising some parentless rhinos if I remember correctly. So, she tries to help both people and non-human animals. Recently, she had an interview with “Classical Crossover” magazine which is on a KZbin video. Plus, there are several videos giving interviews and a history of her singing on KZbin. She consistently waves at her audience, something she practiced for audition as can be seen on the longer version of her audition. And she does a courtesy very consistently, a sign, I think, of her respect for her audience.

She made such rapid progress in her development even after starting at so high a level you won't want to miss the amazing early years with her rapid evolution of her ability. John, make sure you get the Nella Fantasia from the November, 2016 performance at the Afrikaans is Groot concert. There is and earlier performance from the same year, which is delightful but this second performance just 4 months later is on a whole other level. Remarkable progress in just a few months. Amira performed 2 songs in the Christmas concert in Iceland in 2015 at the age of 11 Ave Maria Gounod with Gissur Pall Gissurarson, a excellent tenor. Another performance that shouldn't be missed.

@@olddudereacts i am a 72 yo dude living in northern NY state who only discovered her this past July. God led me to her by way of a FB ad for some brain enhancement drug, huh. i am so very grateful to now being able to listen to and see her perform, but i so wish i could have followed her for 9 yrs; is that being greedy. There is no doubt in my mind that she is a gift from God for the entire world as she can reach our souls no matter what language or country. Her talent cannot truly be described although her FB fans still try all the time. There are very few of her performances that i don't cry, i cannot explain why. i never liked opera. What is even more incredible is her heart and soul! What an amazing, generous, caring, giving, humble and loving young lady she is. You must follow her Old Dude!

Please watch her first audition on Holland's got talent singing this song, she got put through straight to the semi finals, and they speak to her and find out how she started singing too. Also her semi final one singing ava maria, and the final which she won sunny nessun dorma. Great reaction. Amira is an amazing person and performer. She never disappoints. Realize in this performance she is just 10 years old, standing in front of full orchestra of professional musicians and as you can see a huge audience and she delivers that level of performance. She just brushed off all that pressure and gives it her jaw dropping performance. She is 18 today and still performing even better. I’m sure in other comments will be many good suggestions. Great reaction ‘’Old Dude ‘’. Amira is a gift from the Heavens. I agree with Ruben’s recommendations & in particular ‘’ Ave Maria by Gomez at the Canisius Church ‘’. Even a seasoned singer would learn from this amazing performance, although all of Amira’s performances are amazing. The more you react to Amira, the more you’ll learn about her fascinating journey, such as when she won Holland’s Got Talent, she had not had a single singing lesson. She is truly magnificent. She was only 10 at this performance. She is now 18 and rightly ranked as one of the top sopranos in the world. Everyone notices he ability to project this incredible voice and yet she doesn't appear to be straining at all. I'm sure much of that comes from her training as a long distance cross county runner. Even at age 8 and 9 she was a tremendous athlete winning races in the girls division and she also beat the boys.

Just to let you know if you ever watch her Holland's got talent audition you will find out that she is self-taught she watched KZbin videos to learn how to sing she had no prior teachers or lessons until Andre rieu gave her some help before this performance that's what he was talking about
