Great reaction! At this concert, Amira was only 15 years old. Being the super soprano classical singer that she is, for her singing other genres is like a hot knife cutting through butter. And she sang a whole octave above Julie Andrews.

This performance was the 15th item (of a total of 28 items) from the "Lexus Classics" concert by Coleske Artists in 2019. It was held in the Sun Arena, Pretoria (South Africa) before an audience of about 9500. Amira was 15, but she was a full member of the cast and accepted as such; she also participated in the final two items, which involved the full cast.

Thank you for reacting to this medley. 'Bright' is yes a very good description of her voice here. She sings songs from musicals as beautifully as she sings opera arias, or the many religious songs - which you have not heard yet and are in for a treat there.. I'll Walk with God, the Our Father,.Pie Jesu... Gesu Bambino.. you won't run out of her treasures to experience..

You enjoyed that. When watching her performance's initially, there was a stunned expression, now you know what she can deliver, and the surprise has been replaced by a smile. That's nice. Amira has sung just about every piece from this musical at one time or another, it's one of her favourites. If you want to hear her sing a couple more tracks from it, and some from My fair lady, get her 18th birthday concert, On my own. There's more than an hour of cracking music on it, only a couple of which are up on YT. Absolute joy to listen to again. Thanks for posting this.

A hymn you may appreciate, "How Great Thou Art." Two versions, one picturing Amira, and a studio version with beautiful nature pictures and showing Amira as a baby onwards to about 12. In contrast, Little Drummer Boy, with the Mzansi Youth Choir, is a fun item.

She sings many different genres of music...opera ( Puccini, Verdi, Mozart etc. soprano and tenor arias), sacred aria, popular crossover pieces, musical scores, movie scores, gospel, and someday maybe even the phone book.....all in something like a dozen different languages. You have not yet reacted to some of her other and more recent operatic pieces e.g. Flower Duet, Nessun Dorma, Caruso, La Vergine Degli Angeli, and Ebben? Ne Andro Lontana. And from your comments you would certainly enjoy any of her gospel performances, some done in Afrikaans and some in English. At her current age of 20 she is already a superstar and has sung duets with other well known international vocalists or opera stars e.g. Lukhanyo Moyake, Paul Potts, Patrizio Buanne, Corlea Botha, and even a well known pianist Davie Cerna

Her "brightness" is a result of the harmonics in her voice. The technical term is "Squillo" (if you're Italian) or "Singer's Formant" if you're English. This is described on Wikipedia.

@@dafyddllewellyn6636 She learned to sing opera when she was very young by emulating opera singers. No one told her she couldn't do it, so she did it. Makes her both very talented and very fearless.
