Its the process of using a hand tool such as the axe on the video which is specifically designed for said purpose, to convert round logs square or into an otherwise more desirable shape of timber. I think, dont quote me on it.

@@rebeccacampbell585 and it’ll expand and contract and deform as it dries. It’ll probably fall right out lol. You can bend seasoned wood with the same method.
@a.i.a3949
@a.i.a3949 3 жыл бұрын
Im 90% sure it was a seasoned piece of wood, look at the way the bark has dried out when hes shaving it off paired with the fact their are leaves on the trees in other shots meaning its either spring or summer meaning if it were to be harvested recently then the bark would be coming off much more easily due to it being the period that deciduous trees grow where the bark separates from the trunk so a new ring of growth can form between the trunk and the bark. As for keeping the bark on while the wood seasons: when using a small branch for tools or anything which requires a beating removing the bark for seasoning can make the finished product much weaker as its more likely to crack from drying too quickly. This isnt as much of a problem with large cuts of timber due to the growth rings usually being much more lateral.
