Viele Grüße aus Frankfurt, LG Gerold Wonderful old singing, very, very beautiful. Oh God for over 300 years the Amish found roots in America, just great the way. I think it's a pity that our German language was left behind, unfortunately, but also understandable. New home and new language. Very nice video Elvie, respect and honor the OLD, that's the right way. Many greetings from Frankfurt, LG Gerold

Actually we are fluent in Pennsylvania German, an official USA language which is derived from the VestWorder Pfalz dialect. Most Amish can also read the old Luther German.

I beginning to understand that the Amish don’t have musical instruments during praise and worship and that’s Ok. I Love the voices. May I ask why y’all don’t raise your hands during worship? I’m NOT judging, I just don’t understand. Please help me understand. I likewise will help you understand how I believe. Brothers and Sisters, this is not a salvation issue, so let us understand each other. Eventually my wife and I will be moving to your area around Libby

I’ll explain. This was in my dad’s house and was not necessarily a worship service. It was just a couple nights ago. In our church services there are instruments and plenty of clapping dancing and raising of hands during a normal Sunday morning.

There are people that come to the Amish and tell them they want to join up. The Amish don't dissuade them but they simply try to explain that it never works out. That type of life is way too difficult for anyone to step into. Plus the rules are way too difficult for a new comer to abide by it. For instance, for some communities, it's a whole new world to go the store. Some communities don't allow bicycles. The cohesion is very difficult next to impossible for a Johnny come lately to fall into. For instance hair style on females and dress have a strict to code to abide by. It has to be like everyone else. In spite of popular belief the Amish don't speak German to one another. They know German but they don't use it. Those "Rumpspringen" documentaries on You Tube are blown way out of proportion, about Amish youth turning 16 and can try out the what's done in the English World and they go completely crazy. 60% don't even take part in it. "Oh mother, I could never do anything like that." Some who do it, may go to a film or maybe try bowling. Less than 5% try out alcohol. The one's that try it out, don't, in most cases, don't go to excess. They may try drink a beer, and most then realize very quickly realize it's the "Devil's Medicine." But on the whole I would say that they're happier than the average person is on the outside. I think the main reason for that is, they do not place value on objects. They're not impressed by people who have an expensive car, or someone who is wealthy. They place real value on the family and family values. They see the joy of a child. Less than10% leave it. I'm not saying it's impossible, but a wealthy playboy would have an upward climb of trying to impress an Amish female. I'd say an Amish female would see him as something totally else as what someone like that, believes himself to be.
@AmishMeadowsOfficial7 ай бұрын
Your commentary is interesting and partly correct. Amish do speak German to each other, but in a dialect called Pennsylvania German. I add this: With hundreds of Amish communities, there are subcultures and many different ways of doing things and you can’t lump them all into one stereotype. So some of the things you say do not apply to all Amish everywhere. A lot of what you commented on is not applicable to our community in Libby Montana, for example.
