Many cultures in India like Hindus from Kashmir and Southern India have stories that they are descendants of Nagas . The term Naga in recent times is anonymous with snakes, but I differ and think that Nagas were a race of teachers that taught people of ancient times in the science of agriculture and medicine and political sciences and then they left this Earth. This of course needs more study and research.

Maybe in that time there were people like Amish who also wants to represent ramayan in different ways because with gods name, people accept things. Just like in puranas, there are so many moral values given in the name of gods. Like brahma Saraswati story. Shiv mohini story. Because oldest manuscript are only available about valmiki ramayan.
