I always say it and Ill say it again: Forcing others like Ann wanted to force her friends to eat what they dont like is never acceptable. So OP of Story 1, you aint a jerk, Ann is
@QuickManEXE5 сағат бұрын
Story 1: See, this is why a lot of people don't like vegans. Way too many vegans are so self-righteous and condecending and entitled. While i do understand that if the OP and others go to Ann's house, she's more likely, and allowed, to cook her own vegan food and thanksgiving.... but its just not okay to act like this. No wonder the OP backed out, i would have too. Also, don't try and trick non-vegans about saying that things taste the same... they don't! OP isn't a jerk here, Ann is. Story 2: No way is the OP a jerk here, the sister is. This would be different if there was an emergency... but there wasn't. The sister just changed her plans last minute and now expects the OP to change everything on her whims? Yeah, i think not. No way is the OP being selfish here and i hate it when people try to do this, especially to people that dont have kids of their own. Story 3: No way is the OP a jerk and no way is this an over-reaction. The OP had a very serious surgery.... she needs serious time to recover. Also, how does the husband just forget? Same with the son? Can't you postpone it or go somewhere else? OPs recovery is way more important then some teenage sleepover. Also, the husband suggested the OP should go.... so he can't really get mad that she actually did. The partner is a big jerk here. Story 4: No way is the OP a jerk here... and i would be very careful around the mom here. If she honestly thinks that the OP has no legal rights to their own things like this... then i definitely would be looking into fraudulent things here. The OP is 20, an adult, so legally, all things listed here do belong to the OP, not the mom. Also, i'm pretty sure it is illegal for the mom to withhold them as well, so there's that too. The second the OP gets everything here, i would go to a bank or government agent office and make sure that nothing sketchy is on them. Story 5: Yeah, telemarkets like this are always annoying. I just hang up or tell them to screw off. Wasting their time is pretty funny, but i wouldn't bother personally. At least the one telemarketer laughed about the White House joke.... and good on making the foreign ones mad. Story 6: OP is not a jerk at all here, the parents are. Any parents that show blatant and obvious favoritism are always jerks. OP had every right to call them out in front of everybody. I'm assuming that the OP is under 18 here, but you can be sure that once the OP turns 18, they are going to move out and go no contact with the parents and the sister. Story 7: OP isn't a jerk at all. It sounds to me like the ex doesn't need to know about this account. It's totally fine for the OP to have this seperate account here, and it doesnt make the OP a bad parent, nor does it make the ex look like a bad parent. If the ex wants to contribute, then i think the OP can allow him to but it really sounds like he wants to try and 1-UP the OP here. Also, i wouldn't put it past the ex to try and steal money from this account if given a chance to. If the ex really cares, then focus on your kid, not trying to stick it to your ex.

Story #1: I wonder if she realizes that it's people like her who give vegans a bad name. Back when I was on dating websites, I used to read profiles of vegan women who DEMANDED that the guy change his ENTIRE diet, and goes 100% vegan, just to go on the first date! That was almost as bad as the "prefer not so say" option, for the questions. If you clicked "prefer not to say", I'm automatically thinking it's worst case scenario!

Story 1: if the group accommodated Anne, and she refuses to return the favor, that isn't a friend. Then again vegans have a reputation of prioritizing their ideology over friends, Neighbors, and others. Even forcing carnivore pets to eat vegan! (Seriously vegans, there are a ton of vegan pets that'd LOVE to share your salad that needs loving homes.)

Now I hope some telemarketers call me wanting to buy my house so I can try to get them to buy the white house

Yeah obviously 1st Story OP is NTA. I have family members that have allergies almost like a vegan diet but we still make dishes to accommodate to that. Nothing can put off an appetite more than to deny guests or force them to choose a certain type of dish.

Are you trying to ask whether you’re at fault because you need the attention? Because there is no way that anyone in their right mind would think that they doing something wrong. People can be vegan all they want but they shouldn’t subject the rest of us to the dietary insanity

For the last story mom claimed that all child support money is being put into that account. So technically he is being a good parent and he is contributing to that account every month because his child support is in that account… I commend mom for actually giving the child support to the kid than spending it on herself though.

That reminds me of when I got called by the whatever company trying to sell the whatever product (it was a long time ago, I don't remember the specific details). Them: Sales pitch Me: Oh, cool. Them: Continuing their pitch. Me: Interesting 15 minutes later Them: So do you want to do this? Me: No Them: But you said it sounded interesting Me: Yup, sure did Them: I don't understand... Why don't you want to if you think it is interesting? Me: It is just not for me. Beep, beep, beep. Another favorite is scammers trying to trick people who have loans. Ring, ring. Me: This is so and so speaking Them: Is this so and so speaking? Me: This is so and so speaking (I aint saying yes to unknown callers) Them: We would like to offer some help with your loans. Me: Oh, do tell me more. Them: At the very least we can offer to collect your loans. Me: Mhmm Them: Bullshit sales pitch Me: That's a nice offer Them: So can we help you today? Me: I don't have any loan Them: Are you sure you are not forgetting any old loan? Me: Oh, I have never had any loans Them: What about car insurance? Me: Do you recon I need one? Them: It is very important to have one Me: But I don't have a car. Beep, beep, beep.

Story 1: it’s people like this who made me quit being vegan. I don’t want to be associated with entitled, selfish brats like her

Nah, she straight up thought this was her chance to convert everyone to Vegan and was adamant that everyone bow down and concede to her dietary lifestyle. You are not an asshole for explaining yourself either, since she conveniently left out the most important parts of her side of the story to try and bully you into joining. You need to drop this friend like a bad habit, she's nothing but a narcissistic Vegan who wants everyone to follow her example when she's set a bad one.

OK I want to say story number one that’s absolute ball animal is it the polite thing to do to make sure there’s something for everyone yes but do you have to know so you know what that’s a choice the original poster and everyone else make them make one side thing or whatever and do I feel that the friend has some blame yes but you know what they’re making the dinner they’re allowed to say this and say hey, this is how things are working at my house.😊

story 3 ok i think the narrator is being a simp its a sleepover is not going to effect op in anyway its not like the freinds are going annoy her the whole night like the son have fun so no op is the jerk and overreacted i know people will disagree but its just my take
@HellishSoul6 сағат бұрын
It's not really a good idea to bother a patient that just got out of hospital, i didnt have a sleepover in years, but those tend to be awfully loud, not something that should happen with OP wanting to recover
@gotenblack25425 сағат бұрын
not really op could just use headphones or something its not a big deal
@ethbeatthem48365 сағат бұрын
The problem is the sleepover is in a small place with 1 bathroom, rooms that are all close to the main area, and doctors recommend little disturbance during a recovery because stress can lead to new problems in this period. Now remember that there of 6 teens, a father and a mother in recovery for 1 bathroom in what likely a medium to small size apartment. If it was just 1 extra teen it be fine but 5 is too many to deal with, and if any problems happen the dad the only adult that can help. Narrator not a Simp and just pointing out OP isn’t wrong and recovery sucks and minimizing any problems should be the focus.
@DmitriLaPluma36 минут бұрын
I agree with this, at least a bit. OP definetally overreacted yes, crying over something that could be resolved with a small conversation instead of straight up crying at the first mention of it. BUT, OP does have a good reason, but I just think it could, and SHOULD have been resolved differently
