You do something wrong, you're supposed to admit to it, you don't get rewarded for admitting you did something bad especially NOT when it can destroy a marriage, she broke the marriage, she doesn't get sh!t other than the divorce and knowledge her actions have consequences. If op's friends and family truly cared, they'd support him wanting a divorce and getting one, NOT HER and NOT staying in a marriage when she's going to do it again.

Eye for an eye is in its nature an active behavior. Like you lost my phone so I'll break yours. And I agree there are mire civil ways to go about it (e. g. compensation). But that's not the situation in hand. This one is just about refusing to do a favor after his (which was less demanding) was refused - it's about reciprocity. Op made the right choice because you can't be expected to give without being given something in return. Also, maybe Op would have been a jerk if it was some emergency but it was just the family wanting to go on vacation and saving money on accomodation (and maybe food and transport). Family should be there in times of need but a vacation is not a necessity.

Then she had the audacity to show up at my house asking if we could have another shot, to which I as politely as possible rejected the offer. It hurt like hell when she broke my heart. Story 2: op's first instinct was correct. People don't sleep with other people if they truly love someone else. Only reason she doesn't want to get divorced is because she is gaining something by being married. We don't know why, there could be several reasons, maybe that cheating partner isn't free (women are nesters and don't want to be alone, so op will have to do until she can replace him), maybe money and house and way of living, maybe even something so small that she doesn't want to get dumped, she wants to be the one who does that dumping, many women have massive ego. When man doesn't want them, they have to get him back and if and when they do, they don't actually want him anymore. One thing is certain, what ever that reason is, it's not the love she is feeling towards op. One saying, that i use often, fits very nicely also for this case. "Don't waste your youth by being with someone wrong"

First Story: The mom is just looking for an excuse to rekindle an old score with school admin for scolding her for dressing in a salacious manner at her daughter’s age. Second Story: Romantic cheaters should never be forgiven, particularly when married. The people taking the wife’s side are stupid and most likely cheaters, cucks, simps, enablers, or were never in a relationship. Her parents are indulging/spoiling enablers. OP’s parents are backstabbing scum. OP, it can and WILL happen again. Break up with her. Story 3: I hate guys such as Kevin. Sexist pigs. Story 4: This is why I avoid working in fundraisers, NPOs, or charities. I won’t even do community service. Poorly coordinated, and people tend to be extra abusive to volunteers. Story 5: You reap what you sow. The brother refused to let OP and fiancé stay at his house, so he shouldn’t be allowed to stay at OP’s. Also, OP’s fiancé is horrible for siding with him. Narrator is an idiot for the “eye for an eye” argument and for calling OP the jerk. Story 6: Lilly is a Karen in training. OP did nothing wrong, her sister is stupid. Story 7: What!? Who is that sister to judge ANYONE!? No class…Even if the daughters are f-a-t, if it isn’t affecting her directly then it is none of her business. I bet the sister binges and purges. As a guest, don’t insult your host or family of host in their own home.

Story 2 - all she can do is accept the consequences of her actions. She should have had that mindset BEFORE cheating. Then she would not have to deal with what happened after. The victimized spouse has every right to end the marriage after finding out the other spouse has cheated. Cheating should NEVER be waved off, or minimized. It also means that if he does choose to stay either her, it’ll NEVER, EVER be the same. An irreparable scar has been made, something I think even time itself will find it difficult if not impossible to erase. She did this to herself. Let her enjoy the fruits of her labors.

With the last story I gotta say that the aunt is an issue with how she brought it up. You can't insult someone's kids then expect them to listen to you. The daughters weight is a concern not a joke. I would have reacted the same way. How would she know that the parent wasn't already talking to them about it? No parent would tolerate the kind of verbal abuse about their kids. The parent might have already bewn concerned and then had someone stomp on their last nerve over it.

It's completely understandable why he's annoyed as they were turned away twice for BS reasons. In fact, if I were him, I'd use the same excuse the brother used twice. If they're that concerned about cvid, then asking to stay wouldn't have even crossed their minds... the in-laws didn't want to be inconvenienced but have no problem inconveniencing OP. this narrator has the most mid takes, for the the last story the OP is definitely making it sound worse than it actually was, what grown adult would say "the kids butt probably has a zipcode", "shes probably wider than she is taller", OP is literally in denial of their insanely unhealthy lifestyles and refuses to believe hes doing anything wrong. He is part of the reason obesity is such a huge problem in America, if they want to live a long prosperous healthy life OP needs to make some changes.

This isn’t a one time sleight for a one time revenge (eye for an eye). This is an ongoing issue and right now it seems this person thinks he can treat them like dirt and they’ll still treat him like family. He believes he’s better then them. So the only way they have a chance of getting him to treat them better is to return his treatment of them. They are showing they will not stand for his use and abuse. (You will reap from me as you’ve sown to me.) They will respond in one of three ways. Will shrug it off and nothing will change in which you break even, they will see their behavior is wrong after being in the receiving end and start treating you better, or they will cut you out of their lives, but if being treated the way they treat you is considered grounds for being cutoff then you’re better off without them. No outcome is a loss! As for the comment about family doing stuff for family, I’d say, “EXACTLY! And they did not treat us like family when we needed a place to stay from them. So where was the whole “family helps family” rationale when we needed help? Yet suddenly we’re expected to abide by that code at our detriment for their benefit? No! They clearly don’t see us as family but as chumps who will give them whatever help they need because “family helps family” and since they do this “without expecting anything in return we’ll just roll over and take it when they shut the door in our face while we’re asking for their help! You’ve been brainwashed sweetheart!”

Story 2.. no she doesnt love OP.. or she wouldnt have fucking around.. thats all there is to it.. shes crying because she got caught

Story 2: okay, so life with depressions, loosing a lot of family very early on, having trouble keeping friendships alive, having had wrong friends and the right friends loosing both an a goof and both on a bad basis, the best one to an od, having been mentally addicted to a person, been in an abusive relationship, being bullied to minor extends, but for 4 years straight except for hollydays, all have shaped my morals towards all kinds of relationships that I can sum them up in two basic rules I go by both contious as well as just how I feel about things. 1) I will forgive you almost everything as long as you yourself know, accept and admit your wrongdoing by yourself. Depending on how hurtful the thing is I need more or less self-courage on this one. 2) It's not a bad thing to loose a friend if your characters don't match, but everyone deserves a second chance if the time you have had no contact would be sufficient for a person to either change bad traits or for both to grow to be dynamic enough to embrace or ignore your differences. So here it's pretty easy: this is such an emensly hurtful thing, that was planed in a way that it could have gone on for ages, because of the second phone, that the only way I would forgive her under rule 1, would be if she had come over, sat you down told you and herself told you that if you wanna divorce she understands and she still loves you etc. And I am not saying I would necessarily forgive her here, because it is still such a hurtful thing to do and again the fact that this wasn't a heat of the moment kinda thing, that it was planed out, makes it really heavy. So should you give her a second chance now? No. Absolutely not. She didn't admit anything to you, she got caught and THEN it felt bad, she felt bad for getting caught, not for cheating. Chances are she will do it again, because she just is that kind of person. Chances are what she is taking from this is to be even more secretive next time, to play you safer so that you don't hire a PI. Then she will do this for years.

The sec story, if op see this, remember, don’t let other influence your decision. As you said, she admit to having sex 4 times. She said it was a mistake but it’s not. It would’ve been more believable if she did it ONCE. Even if she’s genuine remorseful, it will never change the fact she broke your trust and she can NEVER get that trust back, no matter how much you guys do couple therapy. Imo, leave her as she is no longer worth it. She may still love you, but as I said earlier, you won’t trust her the same. You won’t see her the same. In the back of your mind, you will always wonder if she is cheating again. Even at the slightest change in her behavior that could mean nothing. That paranoia may never disappear if you stay with her…

For the final story OP’s sister was a little harsh but she’s entirely right their weight is very unhealthy and needs to be lost otherwise OP will wake up to his daughters dead from a heart attack. And before y’all start saying how can you be so mean why would you wish something so awful. I’m in the same boat as these two girls I’m extremely overweight and I know that I’m extremely at risk for arthritis and I don’t doubt that heart issues for me are further up the line. OP cannot see what’s going on with their daughters and claim that it’s healthy.

Wife and affair story... a mistake is once, maybe twice at most. Three strikes you are out, and four times is definitely not a mistake. If you wouldn't have caught her. it would still be going on. If she truly loved you, she wouldn't have committed adultery and broke her vows. My opinion. I would never cheat, and if my husband ever did, even once, marriage would be over! Simple! Divorce your wife. How can you ever trust her again? With no trust, there's no good marriage. Good luck!

Story 5: No jerk, but the other guy is (can't house 2 adults, but expects OP to house a large family?! WTF) as well as the narrator - are you a religious nut or what with your stupid "eye for an eye" line? If someone (figuratively) punches my eye out, they owe me losing one as well. Everyone deserves to be treated the way he treats the people around him. Also, no one's allowed to expect special treatment just because they're family. Family is about making sacrifices for EACH OTHER, not just one person for the other.

not here to be negative but i completely disagree with story 5 o.p was not the jerk because it's common sense like his wife said " family do stuff for each other without expecting anything in return." Right? Then if his family have no problem housing the two of them whenever they visit but her family makes them get a hotel every time they visit they can get a hotel just like o.p had too.

The second story. The original poster shouldn't get back with his wife and she doesn't deserve another chance. From my point of view she says she did it 4 times, she had 4 oppertunities to decline, she had 4 chances to say lets stop this but every time she met up with the friend she accepted his offer and only really stopped once she got caught. Then making a big show of it to everyone that she regrets it, that she deserves to have one more chance but I think she had enough chances and she should live with the consequences and let the original poster move on with his life and find someone else that hasn't shredded his trust to pieces.

Ya'll are calling the brother in the last story being in denial or whatever for being unaware of his daughters weights, but the sister is a jerk for body shaming and bullying her nieces. If she truly was concerned for their well-being, she could've said, "Hey, I am noticing that your girls are starting to become overweight for their ages, and I want to help you out so they won't have any complications later on in life." Don't get me wrong, I am all for telling like it is, but if you just straight up start insulting, then you are just being a bully.

Last story: I am going to double message because I think this is worth its own message. Listen, weight matters. Fat shaming and body positivity only come into play when medical things prevent weight loss/mess with the body/are things that cannot be fixed. For example, height, d*ck size, etc. Weight through overeating and under exercise is fixable. OP is the jerk for defending and encouraging the weight situation of his girls. They are not at healthy weights. The sister has it right. When the “freshmen 20” hits that one girl she is going to be at or near 300lbs. Heart disease, diabetes, etc does not care about how we feel about weight. Its fine to be confident in yourself and to be happy for your children. But to be delusional and say they are fine…no that is negligence and that is automatic jerk behavior
@rowennaclark6175
@rowennaclark6175 Жыл бұрын
I think it’s important to mention though that long term health and weight management really can’t happen when it’s coming from a point of shamming. It’s hard to take care of something if you hate it. It really needs to come from a place of health, balance & taking care of yourself properly. Which can look different for everyone and when needed should be professionals who have the knowledge to help that particular person figure out what’s needed and what works for them. Body positivity doesn’t have to equal fat positivity and can actually be very valuable in the process of becoming healthy, solely because if you care for something you are much much more likely to take care of it and maintain that care. Sure, shame can cause change, but your likely never going to feel like it’s “good enough” and way easier to fall back into old behaviors and give up (or go too far and end up with an eating disorder, which also severely impacts your health).
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd Жыл бұрын
@@rowennaclark6175 So I agree, on the idea of not being a dick. However, it was OP that the individual was talking to and not the children. At that point, with where they are at, maybe crude messaging will work. It works sometimes. As for body positivity. My stance on it is this. It only exists on what cannot be changed. If individuals have medical issues preventing weight loss okay that is fine. If someone is eating fast food everyday and becoming morbidly obese, that is an issue. So yeah, OP is the jerk for letting it get as far as it had.

Story 2: The wife wasn't getting something from the husband so she looked outside to find fulfillment. Last story: yeah the father is totally responsible for his daughters. But the 18 y/o is responsible for herself, they need to get their weight under control or face problems later. The story of the brother that won't allow them to stay but asked if he could stay, NOPE, stay in a hotel. Actually I prefer to stay in hotel/motel anyway.
