Tectonics plates are so close together and there is no space between them then how do they move.

they would subduct. As we know that there are three type of plate boundaries 1. convergent 2. Divergent and 3. transform boundaries..when a continental boundary meets oceanic boundary the thinner oceanic boundary sinks beneath the thicker so it causes subduction.
