The fact that six murders happened in that house would have been a deal breaker for me. I could never be comfortable living in a house where I knew every bedroom had been a bloodbath. No way, I don't care how beautiful the property is, evil beyond words occurred there.

I drove 7 hours to go and see the amityville house a few years ago. I was shocked how close the house was to the surrounding neighbors on both sides of it. It just looked like a normal beautiful house that wasnt that large as depicted in the movies. Makes me really wonder how no one heard shots going off the night of the defeo murders

This video really makes you think. Freaky, personal, and explainable but funny side story. I was visiting my grandparents back in about late 70's and was in their finished basement and finally finished reading the book. I went upstairs to the dark first floor and freaked out/hit the floor since I was sure Jody the Pig was looking right at me through the window over the kitchen sink. Turns out it was a reflection off double pane glass of a lighted orange switch behind me. Scary as hell for a 14 year old, but comical 40 years later.

Before I watched this documentary, I was leaning towards the opinion that the Lutzses made the thing up. But this interview convinces me. Kathy Lutz is dying here, of a respiratory disease, and is probably finding it physically difficult to talk. Why would she give this interview if it weren't true? Why would she waste what precious little time she had left if it was a lie? This interview sounds like a dying person giving their last testimony.

The Lutzes couldn't very well, at any point in their lives, let go of the haunting narrative. They could not risk the lawsuits that may have come if they'd admitted it was a hoax. I really think you should read Dr. Kaplan's book. The San Francisco chronicle first broke the story in August 1979 that this was a made-up story, where Attorney William Weber played an unwitting part in giving momentum to the Lutz's story.

67marlins I will try and find the book, but no-one was holding Kathy Lutz at gun point to re-tell this story. It was hardly going to affect her for much longer. And she was quite religious, and would not have wanted to go to her grave telling a lie that put her mortal soul in peril (I'm not religious myself, but I believe that that's what she believed).

The flies can be explained from a forensic perspective. There were 6 damn bodies in that house. For 48 hrs with the heat on. The maggots came and reproduced. The house sat empty with the Defeo furniture still inside and the maggots reproduced and calonized in the house. In the sewing room there was 2 boys bodies no wonder so many flies in that room. It was December and my guess the flies took over the heating ducts I believe no doubt that the house had an evil energy. How could it not? With what happened there. But some of the issues are explained as well.

The book came out when I was 16 and I had no problem believing it because my family lived in an extremely haunted house. The haunting was daily from 4 spirits. The basement held so much terror for all of us. The last time I went in the basement I could feel hands all over me and the presence of evil was overwhelming. I ran up the stairs with those invisible hands touching me only to see the door slam shut and lock. I couldn’t open it and screamed and pounded on the door, waiting for what felt like eternity for someone to open it up and let me out.

I believe that this is true... I've encountered something when I found and bought this book of Amittyville Horror in a book store catching my attention because it says it is a true story. I brought it home and read it in one sitting on our living room. I don't know but I felt the fear when I was reading... I've fallen asleep and was awaken because I felt something was staring at me adding the freezing temperature inside our home that is unusual. When I looked at the clock it was exactly 3:15am... I felt spooked. But didn't gave meaning to it. Until it became like a habit, waking up exactly on the same hour for the next consecutive days. I also had this experience where I saw a large fly hovering above my head and was persistent to fly above me. There was also bad stench that you can smell and I keep ignoring it. One time I was actually listening to the radio, when I saw someone walk passed on the window then the radio stopped working...then it played a distorted sound of the Spice Girl's song saying "If you wanna be my lover?..." then I immediately pulled the plug because the voice was evil. Then the floor I was standing felt like there was a fire that I jumped out of it because I felt that it burned my feet. I was so curious about the story that I shared it to my classmates and invited them to come and stay for a night.... They have felt the extreme cold inside our house and when we tried to voice record, we can hear the background but we can't hear our voices. After sometime, when I'll be inside the bathroom near the kitchen I can hear someone is pulling a chair outside. When I tried to look there'll be no one outside. The worst is when I started to have nightmares, seeing a dark entity in a hood and I would just froze. It will leave when I spoke the name of Jesus. Then on the 24th of December 2004, 28 days after I read the book... I felt so weak that I started puking when I woke the same hour 3:15 am... I got hospitalized and the doctors can't diagnose what was happening to me. I have no fever, or whatsoever but I felt so cold inside. My brother visited me asking what happened. He then asked me if I was okay, he also felt the spooked coz he too have read the book and told me that he would feel uncomfortable when he is alone inside our house as if somebody is watching. He told me to throw away the book coz he think that it was cursed or demonic. I told him that it was inside my cabinet, and told him to burn it. But when he got home, he didnt find it in my cabinet. We searched the whole house and until now it wasn't found. Few years later, I saw on the internet of the book of Amittyville and was shocked to see the exact replica of the book I had once.. There was the same tear or chipped on the cover page of the book like when I found it on the store. If there's good there is also evil... And I've never experienced things like this before. Some people would be skeptical but not until they experienced the terror that they would start to believe. But in Jesus name, may these bad spirits be cast out and return to where it belongs.

My first husband and I once lived in a haunted house that we rented and I understand perfectly what they are saying. They are not lying. One of the things that Mrs Lutzes said about how they had been practicing transcendental meditation caught my attention. She even realized it may have opened a door. When you empty your mind and practice this form of meditation there is that no telling what can come in uninvited. You are opening doors to lower realms where evil spirits can find an opening. Hinduism has many many gods. There are many lower gods of this world and they are not the ones you want.

This may be significant. But when Cathy Lutz, near the end of this segment, wondered if the practice of TM may have played a role in them being harassed by evil spirits, It brought back to memory something someone told me he had learned from a Sadghuru, a religious instructor in Hinduism. This teacher would frown upon many so called "certified" TM instructors. One reason is because of their inexperience in the spiritual aspect of TM. In particular the chanting ritual aspect involved. He was told, that when you invoke these various chants or mantras, you better know what you are doing. Because in some chants, you are summoning the names of demons.

Our world is certainly mind boggling, with events we can't understand. When I saw Mrs. Lutz being so sick, it brought tears to my eyes. She looked just like she did, after waking up one night in the house, like an old woman. It's harmed or killed and caused divorces that are very sad. I wish the truth was known. What can we do about the incredible phenomena that existed there? Transformations from entities, personality changes etc. I'm sure it will happen to others in the future, but when?

Just because there was or is no paranormal activity for any new owners does not mean it didn’t happen to the Lutz family. Although in an interview w Butch in prison he stated the Lutzs knew him, not sure if I believe that. I lived in a house that was not haunted and then became haunted when my grandfather died there, so it depends on the people too not just the house or location. Lutzs were into some interesting alternative open minded spiritual realms from what I’ve read so that could have had an attraction for any paranormal activity directed to them specifically coupled w the houses negative over tones.

The reporter said nobody felt anything, the house was normal and he had a great night's sleep in the master bedroom.

As much as I would love to believe that the Lutz clan made this all up, I somehow sense sincere truth to their claim. The more I research, the more I end up leaning towards them. I studied their expressions throughout the entire clip, as well as others, and they exhibit the tell tale signs of persons speaking the truth. They even passed lie detectors with no problems. Who knows what else occurred on this land, in that house, over the decades prior (and after for that matter). We will never fully know. And of those families occupying the residence afterwards, who's to say they did not posses a strong faith and used every resource possible to exorcise what ever was there out, once and for all? Good triumphs, love conquers.

What did they lose? The bank foreclosed and the family made a fortune from the book, movies and personal appearances. The entire event was a hoax to make money. Their own children say it was all lies and one of the kids sued the dad over it. To get an idea of the hoax and lies, search on KZbin for this video: *The Real Amityville Horror - (Paranormal Documentary)* The book and movies were complete lies and the author and producers admitted it, as well as the lawyers involved. Just one small example: The "pig" was a neighbors fat cat called the pig.

Eileen Ward This wasn't the only interview. Do some research. Have you read the book? This "interview" and documentary was the book. While I do believe that there was something off an weird about the whole DeFeo thing there is more to this story than this 'documentary'. The book scared the hell out of me when I read it years ago there has been a lot of research and there is evidence that the Lutz's lied but no one will ever really know. At the time of this interview they were already divorced but they had to keep up appearances to keep their claim true. I'm not saying they lied, I do believe in hauntings but there is way more to this story than this. No one does research anymore . Never take something at face value. Look into it and research all you can before making a determination on what may or may not be real. The Lutz's had to keep to their story regardless. Real or fake they made money on this and could never turn back

Butch Defao died this past week as well as the truth. I was at the house yesterday to see for myself and noticed a lot of cameras pointing outside the house as well as inside oddly enough. The homeowner was walking inside too, but I did not want to bother her. They deserve privacy as anyone should. I found a few truths which are backed up by actual facts of this case and very surprisingly lean toward paranormal occurrences which is never good. Either way it is a very sad story, many innocents were murdered and if Butch was possessed then it was done by influence of a demon and not by his own will, but we will never know. I can only hope he did not murder them intentionally, but if he did he is in Hell now.

The people who bought the home after the Lutz frauds left stated the heating system was not working properly and needed major repairs. Thus the cold. One family said the 'sewing room' was cold due to lack of ventilation from the unit. This is 1970. Old hhome. Radiators and vents were the norm in older homes - Supplied by units (especially in new England) via coal or oil . . . I lived in one in NH fore years. The butler closet and strage rooms were always cold - No vents.

Hi WickedTornado. I think if people are disturbed they can imagine all sorts are happening to them. I do believe that families, especially if there is alot of dysfunction, can feed off of each other. I think that's where the problems lie. If they then connect these feelings and thoughts to an object, be it a toy, piece of furniture or a house they will. I think some are too sensitive to the suggestion of places being a problem. The Lutz family were crooks making money out of a tragic crime.

Like many of them stayed the night and before they went to bed, they rifled through the Lutz's desk and found book deals to publishers offering to leave the house in exchange for a book deal. That says it all right there. So leave the house for alot of money and leave all their stuff. Umm hmmm.

Did you know that There is a good project of Antique Dealers it wont matter If its a haunted house or not that wont matter to them is They can buy old houses at bottom low prices. What they do is, they buy old houses not for the houses But for the antique wood, because when its 50 years old Its already an antique and an antique the older it gets The more expensive it becomes, so what they do Is tare up the old houses and turn the old antique wood Into furniture and sell them as antiques for a fortune. That's what I would do to this house. (The dark story that happened behind this house was, according to the strory,"The devil decieved the murderer, who said he heard whispers alegedly coming form members of his family who he said conspired to kill him, so that drove him to kill them all.", which was of course the devil's deception, because Devil-means slanderer, he slanders man vs man and man vs Elohim and causes havoc on earth turning man vs man and man vs Elohim.", Smith's Bible Disctionary) So if anyone have thoughts of killing because they are thinking of killing you, one must pray about it and trust in Yhuwah not do anything evil that could cost you to commit murder. The Word says, "Dont let your anger lead you to sin." Sometimes anger builds up because one counts or keeps a record of wrongs, until it builds up to a breaking point where one can not take it anymore and then errupts like a volcano and causese the death of everyone around him. So be aware or Beware of the Devil's schemes for he wants your soul to be damned or condemned.. The Word says, "Do not keep a record of wrongs. Forgive and you shall be forgiven." Pray in tongues, if you don;t know how, YOU CAN UTTER ANY SYLLABLE BUT YAHUWAH KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE UTTERING ONLY YAHUWAH UNDERSTANDS YOU. THE DEVIL CANT UNDERSTAND YOU, stick your tongue out and just utter LA-LA-LA-LA-LA . .. LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-ALA . . .
