The DeFeo murders definitely happened. But there is NO solid evidence that the Lutz' haunting really happened. It's quite possible that the entire mayhem was just a ploy that scared so many people. Just like Blair Witch did in 1999. Also, JAWS was completely fictional story, but it frightened so many that some people were afraid to take baths!

I use to live in North Amityville. I have walked by the house several times. It's a pretty nice neighborhood...many older homes that have been renovated. A friend and I knocked at the door once. There was a lion-head door knocker. No doorbell at the time. No one answered. It's honestly not the house I find haunted itself, but the ocean there behind it does look rather haunting. Maybe a few watery graves are there. Idk.

I still live a few blocks away. One of the prior owners were friends of ours, so the wife and i would go there occasionally, mostly for parties or just to take the boat out . Great area. Only thing that sucks is the price of living here. That's why they moved down south.

There's another street that went behind Ocean Ave, where you could view the house from behind. I also recall a small park out by tge ocean there. The street curved around. ok, so here it goes i mean it's been going on for almost 50 yrs alligations, alot of lies and simply one pointing the fingr against one another look the only thng scary and really true about that house is simple Ronald Defeo grew up in an abusive italian family his father ronnie sr was short tempered and abusive Ronnie jr was a very well known drug addict he was known to go to Henry's bar drnk and get rowdy anyhow on the morning of Wednesday November 13th 1974 he was very high on Heroin and piss drunk had on his mind it was eithr them "plotting to kill him" {which was one of his many lies} all he wanted was insurance money and money his father "made on the side} so he went from room to room and killed them all no demons, no person in black handing him a gun he knew damn well what he did aftrwards then you have the Lutz's come in they paid only 80,000 they clamed their was all this bullshit going on in the house, none of it was true the both of them George and Kathy were in cohoots w/ronnie's lawyer and he gave them the rundwn thus the book came out, then they made a movie {1979} fun fact they filmed it in Toms River, New Jersey lol i am from New jersey they filmed 1,2,and 3d now it's like they keep milking it they all suck using a tragidy filled with lies call it a friggin day already, anyway just wanted to state the true facts anyway plse stay safe, PLSE WEAR MASKS!!!! The ghost boy picture has been pretty much confirmed to be one of the investigators there at the time. I believe his name is Brad and he did admit that it could have been him. He was rather youthful looking and he wore wire rimmed glasses- hence the glare in the eyes.

For years Bertz would neither confirm nor deny it. Daniel Farrands who interviewed Bertz for the documentary that appeared on The History Channel, said that Bertz swore up and down that it wasn't him in the photo. I don't know if that proves anything either way.

I was talking about what he said in a court of law during Weber's lawsuit against the Lutzs. It is impossible to know what the priest said because the case is sealed.
