If your using flux core wire, you need to reverse the polarity inside the welder. That should help a lot with your welds.

Ahh did not know that. Will do, thanks for the tip!

I like the project. Just what I was looking for. I think the pipe is galvanized though. Doesn’t weld.

Well not supposed to weld at least

Before you go any further, return the zinc plated latch and stuff. If you burn or heat zinc hot enough it can let off toxic fumes and make you pretty sick. Don’t want that on a camping trip.
@Jeep-Creep3 жыл бұрын
Is zinc coating similar to galvanized? I’ve watched other KZbin channels bake it off or sand it off. Is this a similar scenario?
@dukiedozers25843 жыл бұрын
@@Jeep-Creep it’s possible if you threw it in a fire for a while but you’re still putting yourself at risk of heavy metal poisoning. You could strip it with muriatic acid. But I’d just get stainless to be safe, plus it won’t rust on you eventually.

@@dukiedozers2584 will do! I was marveled at the latch but forgot to be carful on the materials. The hinge I found is brushed nickel is that an issue as well?
@dukiedozers25843 жыл бұрын
@@Jeep-Creep I think nickel is ok, but I’m not 100% sure. Can’t find a lot of info on burning nickel. I know Alec Steele made mokume gane with nickel and copper, he didn’t mention anything about toxic fumes. But don’t take my word for it, make sure you’re safe!

Nice welds !

Lol man I suck at welding. Hopefully I get better! I think one thing I was doing wrong was not getting enough amperage on the extension cord I was on.

@@Jeep-Creep haha yes everyone is new in the beginning. with a mig weld, you need to have clean surfaces, take away color, and on the exhaustpipe, take away the top coating, its some kind of aluminium. otherwise a cool/smart solution of stove, otherwise i wouldnt have watched it. Sorry for my english, im Swedish hahaha
@Jeep-Creep3 жыл бұрын
@@latitude67 your English is very good 👍🏻 next time I will remove the top coating and see if my welds improve. I am loving the stove it’s been working really well. I also made a stereo ammo can as well the recharges on solar power and works as an AC inverter as well. Check out that video series too. If you like my stuff please subscribe. It helps me out. Thank you and one day I hope I get to visit Sweden :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXfNdamsabyqm9E

Burn your galvanized stove pipe outside first, then do camping afterwards. If you don't the fumes from the galvanized metal will make you ill. Stainless steel has a reflection like a mirror almost. Galvanized metal and aluminum has a dull look. It has no reflection like a mirror. Just so you know the difference for future builds.

For a door handle look up stainless steel door handles. All the items at Lowes and Home Depot are sadly are zinc and galvanized coated.
