Pretty good little review. CCI is doing a great job of offering so many different types of rimfire ammunition. I think they are makers of the widest variety, especially in .22 rimfire. We are fortunate to have such a fine rimfire manufacturer here in the US. BTW, that little Remington 510 looks to be in great shape. I love old Remingtons, and Winchesters.

CCI 960 quiets are accurate out to 40 yards in Ruger 10/22 with an average 730 fps. I believe 68 db at shooters ears to be correct, hand cycling seems to work well.

I shot these out of my Glenfield 10 (Single-shot bolt with 22" barrel). The Quiets were just a tad louder than the CB Shorts. They had a hollow pop where the CB Shorts had more of a snap.

In my 125 buck Rossi RS22 semi-auto, the CCI Quiets run perfect. And are actually quieter than my Crossman 2040 air pistol. Around 725-750fps(46-50 fpe) at the muzzle. Rifle seems to like them. I can actually run Aguilla Calibri powderless rounds (420fps...20gr) but have to use the charge handle to eject each round. No prob feeding however( length in-between a short and a long although on-the-box it's "lr". They are almost imperceptible except for an occasional "whiz sing" as they exit.) Better for bolt action and revolvers. Only prob is, only 7.5 lbs fpe. The same as the aforementioned Crossman 2040 air pistol. (And a 17.7 grain domed pellet is a larger "wad"). Calibris are expensive for what they are. Great for that cheap Heritage or Ruger single action. Interesting side note. My Rossi RS 22 HATES the CCI Stinger hollow points BUT maybe that's a break-in/ polish feed ramp issue. ( and the Stingers are LOUD when they do feed)

Glad you did this video - thanks... but couple of things. Accuracy is king, so that's what I'd like to see tested (either of these will easily dispatch small game). More importantly, not to belittle, but isn't subsistence-survival precisely the scenario when you do NOT need to be quiet? Any standard-vel, hi-vel, or hyper-vel .22lr will still be plenty quiet for a survival situation. It's when you're hunting for FUN that you need to be quietest.

@thejungleexplorer4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for you comment and for subscribing. I really appreciate it. It is true that I am extremely lucky to have this rifle that I inherited from my grandfather. But don't think the test is without some value. For one thing, to my knowledge there is not a semiautomatic that can shoot both shorts and long rifles, so the bolt action, single shot, or revolver are pretty much the only options. Second, I have several other videos in which I shoot LR ammo out of both this Targetmaster and a Ruger 10/22 and there is not a significant performance difference between them. Here is a video in which I test the CCI Quiet out of 5 guns, including the Ruger 10/22 and the Marlin 60 and the Remington Nylon 66. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aH62oJqlhJKcntk Hope this helps answer your question at least a little bit.
@thinkingimpaired56634 жыл бұрын
i use my 10/22 as a single shot rifle its just that easy. because the shell doesnt reject you manually eject the round after each shot. also consider purchasing a bolt action rifle with tube feed or just chamber each round manually with a magazine fed 22. by the way longer barrel 22s are much quieter. i like my mossberg model 44 for pest control.
@FurlongSEOmarketing4 жыл бұрын
As he said, you can't shoot those round out of a semiautomatic because they're low velocity... they won't cycle properly in a semi. You need at least 1000fps round in a semi in which case you will make quite a bit more noise as the approach and or exceed the sonic boom point of 1125 fps. You can also still readily buy bolt action 22 rifles. Theyre quite popular.

Thanks for the advice. I have actually never heard of using joules to measure ammunition energy before and was not aware that some people do. I will try to take that into account in future ammo testing videos. Although, I may not be doing gun and ammo videos anymore since KZbin seems to not like them and has taken several of mine down. Future gun and ammo videos will only be available on my website: www.thejungleexplore.com. Thanks again for making me aware of this.
