It's not racist, they just chose a simple color scheme to make it a more powerful message. If it was truly racist then the colors would be brown and tan.

This video is made by manesty, not the UN. The two organisations may have simular goals but they are not the same. If you start talking about the UN you are talking about rules which are not enforced by some countries. This is exactly why we need amnesty. Someone has to show publicity what happens. If we happen to show our attention, then some countries will seek an other, way to reach their goals- one which doesn't mark them as villains.

@cloughers You are right, most countries hurt human rights. But you must wonder what this means for us. It could mean "So let's no longer care." or "This is one more reason to show people these violations" Now let us talk in terms of utilitarism. What happens if we choose your option? Then, there would be no reason for goverments to respect human rights. What happens if we choose my option? Then, goverments have a reason to respect human rights: their international reputation.

Amnesty kisses the ass of the declaration of human rights. The UN also want to make goverments respect the human rights but the goverments in power often hesitate to use harsh words, especially because China has the Veto power. Amnesty is not controlled by goverments and so doesn't need to hold back. About that religious legal system: it is not the purpose of Amnesty to represent the majority but the human rights- they are their main value.

what I find funny about this is that the countries that AI focuses on the most, Israel Iran USA and China, have all signed into the UN and by association the UN declaration of human rights,guaranteeing there people's rights as shown by the charter, and yet still abuse cases like those in the commercial happen everyday with goverment backing.

@cloughers I think that violations of right should be punished- everytime. All members of the UN accepted the human rights as right, so they have to bow their head before them. About the other countries: There is no world goverment. Therefore, every actor has to fight for his goals for himself. Our goals are to fight those abuses and we have strong allies. This is all you need if you share the cynical view on politics as you appear to represent.

Moral always is socially constructed. We can never be sure if our values are good but if we do have values, we inherantly believe in them to be good. However, I am afraid I do not get your point after the second sentence. What is the connection between WW2 and our living conditions now? I can just say that not everyone lives peaceful prosperous lifes. If everyone did, we wouldn't need INGO's like Amnesty.

@Steadyaim101 Most countries in the world have signed at least one of the articles in the declaration of the human rights. The reason that this commercial focuses most on these countries might be because these countries statistically abuse the human rights the most, which that Amnesty knows of. But on the other hand, the problems that you see in this video exists in every part of the world. Of course not all of them are to find in all countries. My point is that they do exist, more or less.. :)

Logically you could ask, if the assailants knew that their victim had an impacted neurotrauma would they have shown mercy? It is an illogical question born to torment the mind even further, because the murderers had impacted the injury in order to target it for the deepest humiliation, and for nothing would they stop.

i appreciate the intention of this video and the way it uses art in the service of human rights, but i am concerned that all of the "bad" people perpetrating violence are black or dark and all the "good" people/victims are white or light. this subtly and implicitly reinforces stereotypes and racism that contribute to injustice.
