Sheidt is one of the only doom metal guys I’d say really transcends the genre and is doing something that’s completely his own thing. He’s a true artist in that sense. He’s very talented. His music sounds a lot like orchestral music to me. It’s layered which is very odd for doom metal. It also feels more sorrowful than the usual pessimistic tone doom has. His voice is great too. Yob’s really awesome .

i agree with everything you've said. these guys are somewhere outside a lot of the other things. doom doesn't necessarily require transcending though, in my book. we've had some creators and some stubborn stalwarts; all of which i'm a fan of. i don't think that form has reached it's apex of gestation yet. remains to be seen.

james brown would call out band members while they were playing live, if they made a mistake that he noticed. it would either be a gesture, or some short phrase, maybe a laugh or a jb grunt, something, but if you watch closely you can sometimes see this, however his band was pretty good live and made few mistakes, it is awesome to see a band with rapport with each other.

YOB has made my life a little easier to handle!! The ups & downs of my little life have become a bit less drastic when I am centered..and YOB's music is cathartic for me as I am sure it is for them as well as many others who enjoy them. Our Raw Heart is more than just an amazing album, it has deeper meaning and emotes feelings that for me ar haunting and beautiful at the same time!! Any fan of this band already knows how special they are and how powerful the music is but if you really let yourself go and just drift away while listening to YOB ORH it can take you on a journey which can be different each time. I also recommend listening to the full album in one sitting if possible. I've gotten so much from this one album alone that it is possibly the most important album in my collection. For everyone there is that one album that does something magical for them or to them and for me its Our Raw Heart!! I went off on a rant there but I think its an important album and should not be overlooked!! (YOB is LOVE & LOVE is YOB)
