The fact that I never read the lyrics yet know every word to the song shows brutal yet clean the vocals are and I love it!

There's always some space for "interpretation", if you will. And by interpretation I mean completely mishearing the lyrics while keeping the meaning intact. Example: for like 5 years I always heard "Bringer of flames and bitter scourge", not "Bringer of flames and endless hurt". Made sense in my head so I just went with it.

@@Ramash440 The first time I ever heard Amon Amarth it was a misheard lyrics video about Death in Fire, and still to this day I sing "The serpent spreads its pie!"

For anyone that is interested, this song is about Surtr, otherwise known as Surtur or Surt, the bringer of doom at Ragnarok, the end of the world in Norse mythology. He will engulf the world in flames, release the oceans and flood the earth, fight with Freyr, destroy almost all gods, and will finally die, drowned in his own flood, paving the way for "A New World".

Fun fact: Freyr bartered his sword for a chance to marry a giantess. For that he is fated to die fighting Surtr, as he had no sword. It has also been theorized that the sword that Surtr uses to kill him, is the above mentioned sword.
@eatin5seconds10 жыл бұрын
Surtur was the leader of the jotnir the fire giants of muspel over which he ruled. He brandished a sword that flowed brighter than the sun, and faces of with frej at ragnarok. Though he emerges victorious, frej gouged out his eye with a horn and in his rage consumes the nine worlds in flames. Before the world sinks into the ocean and emerges reborn.

I think I will watch Lord of the Rings after listening to this band. Or maybe play Skyrim or Age of Mithology.
