@@brapperdan Yep. Ironic to see them and Arch Enemy on the same bill. Two of the biggest European-Festival-Metal bands that I don't share the admiration for. But Amon Amarth's Jomsviking WAS a really good record from start till finish, and not another "2 good songs - 8 fillers" album - I'll give them that!

As a musician in the studio it’s different because you’re focused and trying to get parts right, onstage you’re already familiarized well with the music so now you have time to let loose! It’s a great feeling!

I'm going to see them 12/8 in Denver at Fillmore...never seen them, never really listened to this type of music so I thought it good to get to know the band...I really like them. They are very down to earth and intelligent dudes! I'd defintely sit and drink some beers with them! Looking forward to the concert now that I have some insight into them personally :)

That's what many people today forget about metal. Everything's been done already. Every riff is just a variation of another. It's incredibly hard to keep releasing records and not repeating yourself too much.

I disagree with that statement. You're clearly not a guitarist and if you are you have a limited mindset. That's not meant as an insult, just my opinion. It takes a while to write and produce stuff if you want it to turn out well.

@@rayshualothtonne9996 What he is saying is that with so many bands around IT is actually harder the longer you go to come up with new riffs and one that havent been done by one of gazillion metal bands out there, also depends on genre you are doing. Last few albums had some similarities, especially production wise while before With oden on our side each was more unique and after With the oden on our side came a very refreshing Thunder of th=e twilight god which is still their most unique sounding record, after this one it was a bit more similar with Berserker sounding a bit different again.

This is true this album has a lot of traditional heavy metal led to good melodic death metal, I saw them before the covid bullshit in March in Chile, and it was a wonderful show, luck and I hope to see you in another opportunity and with another album under your arm .. health!

Does anyone get the feeling some of the songs are modern covers of centuries old shanties? Like maybe that's what they were going for but songs like Raven's Flight, Ironside and When Once Again We Set Our Sails sound like old timey songs pirates and soldiers sing to boost morale if you substitute Johan's growling with a bard or a band of merry men.

Yes their first album and 7 next ones made me fall in love with Amon amarth and appreciate their work, but their evolved to more generic sound and composition especially for last two albums, I'm losing passion and interest because of that, the last good album was Deceiver of the Gods and everything before, I really miss old Amon amarth not this, but I still will look into new album but I will never stop listen the old ones, that's were the real beard was growing.
