Yooo, NEXT EPISODE OUT NOW FOR CHANNEL MEMBERS SO GO ENJOY THAT! kzbin.info/door/zftdMJ61a9Hz3owc8gEBNwjoin Real quick update tho, our channel mod Sophie had to go away on some family stuff and I've been babysitting (puppysitting?) her pup. He's a bit whiny so I can't really leave the room to go record or edit without him driving everyone nuts so thats why videos been scarce (along with it being E3 week and I got a shit ton of meetings/appointments with devs around that this week, so yeah I'm busy) but she should be back early next week to pick him back up. So that when reg uploads would be back. Just Quick update for yall. Also Amon better that Ozai.................I said what I said discuss below lol.

I think Korra learned from Avatar that the best thing they could do was to make the villains interesting. The first instance we hear about Amon and the Equalists, we can see where people are coming from, that there are some people born with abilities that the rest don't have. Of course there would be a natural inequality. Then you hear about how Amon views benders as being the source of suffering and evil. You almost agree with him because it makes sense. The comics explore more about how this schism developed in Republic City specifically, how developing technology as a result of the cultural mixing after the hundred year war made it so that benders weren't as valuable as nonbenders because nonbenders cost less to train. So factories started hiring non benders for roles that originally would have gone to benders. Benders out of a job had to resort to crime, creating these gangs that would go after nonbenders both because they were easy targets but also a bit because they blamed the nonbenders for their circumstances. Nonbenders, sick of these sentiments, would refuse to work with or accept services from benders. This was just in the first few years after ATLA ended, so of course over time the relationships between the groups would have gotten worse in the decades following. But even if you didn't read the comics, you can understand how a situation like this could happen.

A detail that I like about amon removing the guys bending, is that he takes its piece by piece. The lightning turning to fire as he doesn't have enough bending-energy-stuff to bend it anymore before turning into a complete nonbender is such attention to detail.

It's important to remember that when Aang took Ozai's bending, he placed his thumbs on the firelord's heart and forehead chi nodes. Amon only put his thumb on the forehead chi node. Its a different method, but it achieves a semblance of the same effect. Just... food for thought. :)

This episode is one of my favorites from Season 1 too, every character is likable, animation on point, the introduction to Amon was intriguing, and the pacing is brilliant 👌🏼 Also Mako is kinda an asshole because he had to give up his innocence to protect Bolin from the harsh reality when raising him, so he’s the more serious one and which explains why Bolin is naive and the way he is. (as seen in this episode when he got bribed into doing Shady Shin’s security work lol). Just some useful background info to keep in mind 😌

I personally like A:TLA more. It’s my all time favorite show. But this show is good in different ways. There are some things that happen that rub me the wrong way, but there is by far way more good than bad (music, animation, fight choreography, villains, all top tier). So happy you didn’t listen to the naysayers.
@brianalambert1192

I agree, LOK gets way more hate than it deserves. I think the majority of the problems are associated with how the studio jerked the creators around resulting in writing problems, particularly in the 2nd season. But who cares? The voice acting's great, the animation is beautiful, the music is the next level up from Avatar, and it takes the lore in new directions building on it's predecessor. It would have been so easy to just do ATLA all over again with another evil empire trying to takeover the world. But they chose to focus on smaller stories but let us get to understand the issue better.

Ty Lee taught the Kyoshi warriors how to chi block, and the skill leaked out to at least one other antagonist that I know of. With the way things are in the city, it's easy to see how someone with a grudge could have started passing it on to the anti-bending movement.

My initial reaction to Korra is like yours: Man this is fire! It will have its weak moments. People are right about that. But some of those weak moments are just because they are realistically portraying teenagers and their drama, and partly because Nickelodeon messed them around season by season. But overall the series is amazing. And every time I watch someone's reaction to it I relive my love for it.

@@aaronmueller1560 not superficial to me, animation, music, and plot are the most important parts of a show and I just like Korra better for all of those (season 2 of Korra isn't great though).
