I think Korra learned from Avatar that the best thing they could do was to make the villains interesting. The first instance we hear about Amon and the Equalists, we can see where people are coming from, that there are some people born with abilities that the rest don't have. Of course there would be a natural inequality. Then you hear about how Amon views benders as being the source of suffering and evil. You almost agree with him because it makes sense. The comics explore more about how this schism developed in Republic City specifically, how developing technology as a result of the cultural mixing after the hundred year war made it so that benders weren't as valuable as nonbenders because nonbenders cost less to train. So factories started hiring non benders for roles that originally would have gone to benders. Benders out of a job had to resort to crime, creating these gangs that would go after nonbenders both because they were easy targets but also a bit because they blamed the nonbenders for their circumstances. Nonbenders, sick of these sentiments, would refuse to work with or accept services from benders. This was just in the first few years after ATLA ended, so of course over time the relationships between the groups would have gotten worse in the decades following. But even if you didn't read the comics, you can understand how a situation like this could happen.

This episode is one of my favorites from Season 1 too, every character is likable, animation on point, the introduction to Amon was intriguing, and the pacing is brilliant 👌🏼 Also Mako is kinda an asshole because he had to give up his innocence to protect Bolin from the harsh reality when raising him, so he’s the more serious one and which explains why Bolin is naive and the way he is. (as seen in this episode when he got bribed into doing Shady Shin’s security work lol). Just some useful background info to keep in mind 😌

I personally like A:TLA more. It’s my all time favorite show. But this show is good in different ways. There are some things that happen that rub me the wrong way, but there is by far way more good than bad (music, animation, fight choreography, villains, all top tier). So happy you didn’t listen to the naysayers.
@brianalambert11923 жыл бұрын
I agree, LOK gets way more hate than it deserves. I think the majority of the problems are associated with how the studio jerked the creators around resulting in writing problems, particularly in the 2nd season. But who cares? The voice acting's great, the animation is beautiful, the music is the next level up from Avatar, and it takes the lore in new directions building on it's predecessor. It would have been so easy to just do ATLA all over again with another evil empire trying to takeover the world. But they chose to focus on smaller stories but let us get to understand the issue better.
@tintedpalette6533 жыл бұрын

@@braladeiegberibin 1. Your kind of spoiling a new character. 2. She still has a parent. 3. They never really say she witnessed the killing. Mako may not be rich & has a brother. But he has already shown to have that batman brooding attitude having both parents killed in front of him, he was forced to grow up quicker because of it & as the series progresses Mako has been shown to sacrifice himself more than Asami for the greater good.

My initial reaction to Korra is like yours: Man this is fire! It will have its weak moments. People are right about that. But some of those weak moments are just because they are realistically portraying teenagers and their drama, and partly because Nickelodeon messed them around season by season. But overall the series is amazing. And every time I watch someone's reaction to it I relive my love for it.

Someone from avatar DID make the dragon prince and sokka is the voice actor for Calum

Yeah but the animation does hit the same as Avatar or Korra, i think that was more his point

@Aege&Chill if it helps I feel the same way about the style of animation they use in Dragon Prince, but you forget about it pretty quickly because it's so good.

I want to answer give you some answers.... But I can't 😅- you're asking all the right questions though! And the animation will continue to pop off the entire series 🔥

Something tells me aege is gonna like korra more than avatar especially after what he said at the end of the episode

I think so too, or atleast he’ll throughly enjoy it. He’s seems to be mature enough to actually understand Korras character already
@adamlewis57003 жыл бұрын
He's an animation guy so DEFINITELY. Korra crushes ATLA in fight choreography and animation. As a story, it's meh. And Korra is meh at times. But can't take away from the awesomeness of the Korra fight scenes. They're pretty.
@Noah-pg3xt3 жыл бұрын
yep, I like Korra better than atla for the same reasons he seems to be loving it. The animation, music, fighting, more mature plot lines, more aggressive personality in the avatar, 1920s vibe, pro bending, I love it all! The white lotus do be trash though in Korra
@aaronmueller15603 жыл бұрын
@@Noah-pg3xt all of those things are pretty superficial reasons ngl, and some of them don’t make too much sense occurring in the world of Avatar either.
@Noah-pg3xt3 жыл бұрын
@@aaronmueller1560 not superficial to me, animation, music, and plot are the most important parts of a show and I just like Korra better for all of those (season 2 of Korra isn't great though). And a lot can change in 70 years, that's what the industrial revolution did for us. They already had tanks and stuff in atla, not too unbelievable of a jump in tech given they had almost a century of peace, lightning benders, and metal benders...
