@alexk79733 жыл бұрын
@@dani3078 the ancient arab people were nomadic tribes in the deserts of the central and southern arab peninsula. The Amorites were a pastoral mountain people further to the north. They are both part of the semitic family, as are the ancient Israelites. But they aren‘t further related than that to my knowledge. The Arab people really only started emerging as a power with Mohammed and the rise of Islam in the 7th century AD (CE). If you are interested in the history of early Islam I‘ve found Al Muqaddimah to be an interesting channel.

@Herdan I just think that while quite a bit of the history and discoveries of Mesopotamia have been mostly lost. Meanwhile, the Greek knowledge (Archimedes, Plato, Homer) have been mostly preserved and in retrospect, they have probably contributed the same (if not slightly more) as ancient Mesopotamia. Don't get me wrong, I acknowledge that Mesopotamia was a vital part and the first step towards advanced civilization, I just think the Greek knowledge was better kept and thus actually contributed more
@amoosebitmymom6905 жыл бұрын
@Herdan I completely agree with everything you said, my only point is that because of how ancient it is (at least 1000 years before Athens and Sparta) , many records have been lost that both ancient Mesopotamia and Greece, affected WESTERN civilizations almost exactly the same. Of course ancient Mesopotamia did it earlier, first and better and affected many civilizations (more than greece) but because of how ancient it is (3000 bc) even though many records were found, many were also lost while the Greek knowledge was well kept, and especially with the Roman having been very similar and affected by Greece, in retrospect even though Mesopotamia did it first, did it elegantly and better, through the remaining records of both civilizations they have affected WESTERN civilizations the same. Assuming the Mesopotamian records were as well kept as the Greek`s, then obviously they would've contributed much more
@hassanbassim40075 жыл бұрын
@@amoosebitmymom690 you are right , but the thing is that Mesopotamian states recorded events with details as well , we just didn't translate majority of tablets in museums yet (5 million tablets are yet to be translated in London's museum alone)and we still have 17,000 archaeological spots are yet to be discovered in nowadays Iraq and the surrounding areas . Mesopotamia has a very ancient history that even Neo-Assyrian kings like Ashurbanipal said :- "I am the king who learned ancient languages of Sumer and Akkad that are very hard to write .... etc" . archaeologists have lack in translators to those languages and its also hard to dig in these historical spots in Iraq because of constant wars and unstable situation until recently .

@defendkebab7975 жыл бұрын
ZaqueHunzahua Do you go around KZbin saying the same thing about for example the Roman Empire stealing from the Greeks? They gave their forces the order to spare Archimedes in the siege of Syracuse so they could use him, Caesar was on his way to study Stoic Logic in Greece before he was captured by pirates. The USA and the Soviets stole German scientists after WWII and used Werner von Braun for NASA, and you can go on and on. Your argument is just plain stupid and an Ahistorical way to try to disprove Islamic contributions to science which they expanded upon.
@umutbruhmoment25345 жыл бұрын
@ZaqueHunzahua If you're still calling it stolen you don't get what I'm saying. Knowledge spreads, by trade, conquest, whatever. And if you actually work upon that knowledge you wouldn't be "stealing" it, that's not how science works. You can't be like "Aha, I got this science! Now nobody else can have it, it's all mine!". And a bunch of nomads can still be patrons of arts and science and settle down relatively fast under the influence of settled people inside their empire to produce arts and science themselves. It's not impossible, it has happened several times in history.
@mohammedaljinabe15735 жыл бұрын
@ZaqueHunzahua those nomads ...translating the Greek manuscripts was the first thing they did when they conquered the land from France to China...did the sasanids translated a single manuscript ??or do we ever hear about a Persian translator...or did the Persian have a manuscript in the first place (they used to send their sons to learn from the romans)also the Islamic scientist used to write poet about the scientist who learned from (the Greek's...very straight forward)did they mentioned a single Persian scientist????as it turns out..you are the thief !!and wants to steal other people achievement!! and another fact any scientist from the Islamic era if he chose to write abook in Persian language (i say if cus even if he were Persian he will not..the most preferred language was Arabic)he will use alot of Arabic vocabulary cus the Persian language is not suitable for scientific research..... You barely have a language...

@@otgunz looking forward to it! But only one more?! I was hoping we would get one for Babylon v Assyria and one on the Persians. But either way thank you guys so much for these, it's hard to find good content on ancient Mesopotamia.

Loved the video and the work you guys put into it but Palestine did not exist then. That was a term coined by the Romans after a Jewish revolt intended to insult them by naming their homeland after their ancient enemy, the Philistines. If anything it should be labeled as Canaan.
@misterscienceguy5 жыл бұрын
Was used by ancient greeks as well, but that's well after this time either way.
@johncoldiron66735 жыл бұрын
@@misterscienceguy I am not aware of this. To my knowledge the first mention of the name is by the Roman's on or about 135 AD called Syria Palaestina. You may be confused with the name Philistia, the homeland of the Philistines by whom the Roman's named the newly reconquered territory, see above.
@malachi4055 жыл бұрын
Just to add my two cents. Philistia was the name of the Philistine homeland -- roughly, what is today, the Gaza Strip. This name was not used only by the Ancient Greeks. It was used by everybody. The Bible uses it too, in Hebrew. The rest of what became Israel was called Cana'an. The Romans renamed the whole thing Syria Palaestina, as John Coldiron describes.

Amorites are the ancestors of the Arabians in fact, Hammurabi's tribe was (Banu Yamina) while Zimri-Lim's tribe was (Banu Samaal) the word "Banu" means "children of" used for Arabians tribes just like it was used by their ancestors the Amorites Yamina = right (Yamin in Arabic) , Samaal = North / left (Shamaal in Arabic)
