I saw the same tour with Anneke, Delain and Amorphis. It was magical. And I just found a video where they are performing this actually live and you can def tell the studio audio of Anneke was used in this.

Let me be the first to announce that Hopeless Days is one of my absolute favorites by Amorphis, and what I think is actually underrated is the whole Circle album, because that's never in the discussion of best Amorphis album when it always should be. And yeah, I was equally disappointed by the fact that this isn't a real live performance. But then, I also don't care too much because it's still Amorphis, and it's still Anneke, and while Amongst Stars isn't one of my absolute favorite songs in general or even on the Queen of Time album, I have still an absolute blast listening to it.

Agreed circle album is amazing. Nightbirds song is one of my favorites. I think it was a bad idea to use their 2021 no people concert. It just doesn't have the same vibe as having a crowd.

I absolutely love Circle! It's marred a bit (imho) by the too trebly mixing. It could have done with a little more mids and a little less treble. But the songwriting is stellar.

You're right, Anneke didn't sing live and that's a disappointment, but only because you don't know (or didn't consider) that this video is the first digital single taken from the upcoming live album. The official press release: Amorphis are delighted to announce their third live album, “Queen of Time (Live at Tavastia 2021)”, which is set to be released on October 13th, 2023, via Atomic Fire Records. In 2021, one of the years of the corona pandemic, when the music world was forced into a standstill, Amorphis played two streaming concerts at the legendary Tavastia Club in Helsinki, Finland. Keyboard player Santeri “Sande” Kallio recalls: “Firstly I thought it would feel like a long soundcheck, but quite contrary it felt pretty close to a real concert. Of course, the band had to take the energy boost only from each other’s playing and rely on the feelings what the songs bring in. Obviously, there was zero support nor energy help from the audience’s side. Everybody probably agrees that nothing beats performing in front of a live audience, but I think we survived extremely well. One of the good sides was that everybody had to just concentrate on the music and playing 100% thus it simply was a one-shot chance”. Luckily, humanity got back to normal, enjoying both festivals and indoor shows again, so “Queen of Time (Live at Tavastia 2021)” will arrive just in time to celebrate the group’s upcoming Halo European Tour 2023 (which will start on October 26).

Some of my faves are Drowned Maid, Moon and Sun Part 2, Song of the Troubled One, Goddess of the Sad Man, The Smoke. You should check their covers of "Light My Fire" and "Levitation", they are superb.

God I love anneke, had a crush on her since the gathering days 🤣🤣. This does her a disservice though cause she's amazing live, they should have recorded a performance she was able to be there for.

I don't really understand why they did this. Anneke is a very good singer live, I've seen her with The Gathering and Ayreon. A "live" track would bring much more character to the release.

i always thought Against Widows was a under rated song...... in fact i feel like alot of their pre Tomi Joutsen stuff is becoming under rated.. since he was such a awesome replacement. i think the songwriting was better back then but tomi gives so much life to the material with his voice alone..

It would've been absolutely amazing to see Amorphis performing live together with Anneke, but if they ever end up touring with Scardust then I'd be willing to sell my left nut to go LOL; Amorphis is my favourite Finnish band and Scardust is my favourite Israeli band but the reason they'd tour so well together is because the latter's vocalist Noa Gruman is the female vocalist you hear in every other recent Amorphis song that doesn't have said vocals credited as a duet or anything... not to mention that two of my top three songs on this album feature her as well and this one doesn't even make the cut (my top three Queen Of Time songs are The Golden Elk, Brother And Sister, and The Bee [which also features throat singing from a guy who's a founding member of the awesome traditional Tuvan band Hun Huur Tu]).

I agree with u guys. PS: it was during the pandemic, but i dont think this is the reason why anneke is not live here. She played this song with amorphis, live, few times, i would say like 4-5 times... and amorphis keeps including on the setlist, so that's how they handle it... U guys gotta remember anneke is dutch, and lives far from amorphis, she got her own stuff, and etc PS2: love ur videos, cya later

Anneke is not on stage, so there is no live feeling, but I still like it 👍 but by the way, Anneke could sing it live, why do you think it's impossible? she is a very accomplished vocalist and is great live. I think that it was not a studio version of her vocals, but a recorded part specially for this live

@@APREACTS You intrigued me and I found out the answer to this question. This is really a studio version of her vocals. And I am also a little disappointed, because the video is not just her image, but an image with a microphone and a false feeling is created that she really sings. Really, if she was without a microphone, it would be more honest and better

@@wildhoney126 The argument wasn't that she can't sing live, but Antonio was right on that. No matter how good you are, there'll always by tiny small differences to the album version, and we didn't have that here. Compare to Tomi and all the instrumentalists, there you'll find those small differences all over the board.

Was surprised they might have actually performed this one live together. Turns out, they didn't. Was in Nijmegen in 2019 when Amorphis had a slot after Anneke and I thought they wouldn't let this opportunity slip, well, they did. Not the perfect match the song makes believe.

there's nothing wrong with a backing track, because bands can't always carry guest vocalists with them to concerts. I think that if Anneke were here without a microphone and did not create the appearance of live singing, it would be much better

So basicly, here just Anneke's vocal parts came from backing tracks and rest of the band performed live. So this performance is not live then? And what if a band would use Orchestral backing track? Like Nightwish? That is not live then either?
