Wonderful show with warm-hearted humor for everyone ! Very funny show,it is a shame that it was taken off the air for so long with such flimsy reasons. This is a true American classic and part of our heritage,there is nothing shameful or wrong with this show.

@ Rhonda, Hello, Why? There was a 5-year time limit. A sponsorship is $30,000 according to one website and according to another it is $40,000. The explanation of the process and the requirements are all listed on online websites. But he made that promise that you speak of and I believe he kept it all his life. That tells you a lot about a man. He didn't get his earthly reward but the eternal reward is so much better and so much more important.

@@mikestang679 , Hello, I read that the local Chamber of Commerce decides who gets a star. I'm wondering whether plaques for the Amos and Andy stars could memorialize them and be placed in a permanent visible location like on Lenox Avenue, on Broadway or near the Apollo theater. I wish someone who knew how to facilitate this would step forward and get it done. Maybe there's even an organization out there somewhere that could help. I would be willing to donate funds.

I remember growing up in Brooklyn and my mom and dad watching the show. The intro music was my cue for bedtime. That was a great show. Funny. And their was no racist involved. It was just good old American comedy. Nobody said anything against or racist about the show. Both black and white enjoyed the show. Miss those days. Sad how everything has changed. The real Original Kings of Comedy. Totally a hoot. Haven't found the racist angle yet. This is pure gold...
@GFSLombardo
@GFSLombardo 5 жыл бұрын
The "racist angle" on "Amos and Andy" is that the actors on the original radio " Amos and Andy Show" were white. But for the TV show to show 1950's "social progress" they actually hired black actors, (putting white actors in blackface to play black people on TV was a definite no-no). But they still had to play funny/wise clowns and buffoons in a basically segregated America. But, on the other hand, they did cash all their nice paychecks...just sayin...
@michaelgilbert1800

I'm white and as a kid watched this show and never once thought that these black actors where anything like what the left would call them and this series. These were ACTORS playing characters nothing like what they were in real life. The shows always made me laugh and smile. Do this, think of them as white and make the shows again and see if they wouldn't get a laugh. You see the situation comedy was just that. All about the "situation" not the race of the characters. a "?" youtube when do you decide to remove these shows? Please don't.
