I doubt that is true. There is no much from the 30's that is here, (just the early black face episode for propaganda reasons). In the 40's of WW2, our government got involved with broadcasting, so they play the early propaganda years and the Black face episode only. You won't find hardly anything from before WW2 from any radio show. There must be some USA there that they don't want us to realize?

The FUNNY thing about this particular episode: Long after the program was cancelled the actor who played the Kingfish came home from work to find a relative had finished off the pot roast he had been thinking about all day. There was a fight and the Kingfish was arrested.
@badguy14816 жыл бұрын
Sorry...After checking...it was a Roast Beef...instead of a pot roast! Tim Moore (the Kingfish) got into an argument with his son-in-law, his daughter-in-law and her husband over their finishing the roast beef before he got home. He went upstairs and got his handgun. He discharged it in the house to scare them. The police were called and he was arrested. The final sentence: 100$ fine and 1 years probation. This guy had a fascinating life and career...A career that STARTED in 1898 and took him to Britain and New Zealand. He had MULTIPLE acting and regular jobs. His Wikipedia page is FASCINATING!

@@badguy1481 Hello, Sorry, but your first comment should have been deleted because almost all of it is misrepresentation. You have discredited the decent and moral Tim Moore. In fact, the incident should not have even been mentioned on here in consideration of the fact that he did more good in his life than many people. Your follow-up comment was not entirely correct either. It would have been a good idea to do more reading on the subject than you did. Could you comment on a few of the positives of Tim Moore's life? I can share and important one which is he proudly stated, "I have made it a point to never say a joke on stage that I could not say in front of my mother". And, by the way, his sentence was suspended!!!!

In comparison to the Honeymooner, which I found a terrible comedy with Gleason yelling and belittling all the time, Amos n Andy is as fresh as it was in yesteryear. In the Honeymooners, they lived in a cockroach apartment with one table and those cockroach gas stoves. Couldn't Ralph afford something a bit better for his bride ? His buddy did and even had a TV set. All that Ralph did is yell, yell and yell. Call that comedy in that cockroach ugly tiny stinky gas stove apartment. At least Amos n Andy had many different scenarios and as broke as the Kingfish was, somehow they crumbed enough to get a good apartment.. It's too bad the character in Amos n Andy were the lowest paid in all the sitcoms of the era with barely a reconigtion to them when the show ended.

Well dressed and many level headed citizens..but the blacks at the time thought it was insulting and pressured the NAACP to kill it. A shot to the foot. This cast should have had their stars on the Hollywood Walk but it just was not meant to be. Be glad the NAACP did not demand the film reels be destroyed. The cast loved doing these shows and were well payed.

Gosden and Correll made a brief comeback with a cartoon series called "Calvin & The Colonel", which was based on Amos & Andy but starring animal characters. Unfortunately the NAACP squashed that too.
