Yes, I'd definitely agree that the Engl is a bit more aggressive. especially in the higher frequencies you can really hear the hairiness, haha. This quickly stopped being about the amps for me, and just enjoying the music. Would love to hear the whole song. Preferred the Engl, but the 6505 was close and is a lot less expensive.

The 6505mh might be a little nasally in the midrange compared to the fireball25, but they sounded a lot closer than I expected. Kudos to the peavey for being that good at almost half the price.

The cost comparison is true. IMO, if you wanted a good clean and crunch channel, you'd need to pair the Peavey with another amp. The Engl has beautiful cleans and breakup, so there's some value there. It also has one of the best noise reduction you'll ever use.

In Europe the difference in price is negligible at $750/Peavey and 950/Engl.

Great video, Chris! To avoid the discussion which one is better, I invested some $ to get the Peavey Invective 120 and also have a 19" rack pair of Engl E530 preamp and E840/50 poweramp which I totally love. There is no better or worse in my opinion, and the idea of pairing them into one massive "wall of sound" is certainly a good way to go.

I'm thinking I preferred the rhythm tones from the Engl, for the the lead parts, the Peavey had some nice mid presence going on. Could possibly just match it with the mid boost switch or mid knob on the Engl though. Nice comparison though!
