Honestly, man. I'm sold. This was N awesome demonstration. None of that slap only shit that everyone does. I was torn between the keeley bassist and electro harmonix bass preacher. Then I found this pedal and then found your vid. No tone loss, analog, true bypass, etc. This pedal sounds perfect 👌.

Thanks! I am glad you found this useful. Yea, this is a great compressor!! I really love it. Simple, no tone loss, does the work without all the extra fluff! Enjoy it when you get it!

So bro what’s your opinion? Which ones better ? The EH bass preacher or this one ?

Thinking of adding this to my chain …. Right now I’m using my bass going into - ( in order ) - - Chromatic Tuner - Ampeg Anaolog Classic Preamp - Ampeg Scrambler . Then into my Amp . Where should I put on the chain gang ?? Also - Might add the Ampeg Liquifier. But not sure yet . Thanks for your help .

I have mine placed after the tuner. I’d like my signal to get slightly compressed before it runs through anything else. Bass--tuner--compressor--all other effects. Hope this helps. 👍

@@Trailightband Yes it does . I had a feeling that is what you were going to say . I’ve been playing bass in local live bands since the late 80’s . Never ever used any effects . Bass and amp was all I ever needed . ( I’m so old school ). My Fender Bass Amp still has that Fender sound when playing clean . I love it . But with click of the foot - My Fender amp is now an Ampeg haha 😂 When people ask me “ what kind of amp do you use “?? I now say “ It’s a FenPeg “. Hey thanks for your help . Keep playing !!

@@tubes5150 I'm glad it's working out! I have way too many pedals (13 now) and often times keeping it simple is all you need indeed! I like the FenPeg name! :)

I'm loving this sound, and I appreciate the video demo. I'm really torn between this and the new PRS compressor pedals that just came out. I'm trying to hear both bass and guitar with them since I play both.

I haven't heard the PRS but I do love the Ampeg :)

Great demo. Thank you. Just one question. Where would you put the compressor in a pedal chain? Before or after an EQ? Thanks for your answer in advance.
@Trailightband Жыл бұрын
I would usually do EQ then Compress.

Thank you so much. Your video helped me a lot to decide which compressor buy. Now I have the Octo comp and I'm very impressed: it works smooth and not modifies the tone. The release knob it's a little bit confusing without and attack knob, I'm a punk-rocker bassist and sometimes I don't know if use the release knob at the lower adjustment or higher, any tips? Thank you so much again.

My pleasure. Glad it as helpful. Release on a compressor is (at least to me) hardly noticeable under the conditions in which you are playing. I'd probably recommend fast release in your case if I had to pick an option.

Nice video, it gives a good impression of what this stompbox does best. I had my eye on this Ampeg Octo Comp for a while, and I just ordered one online. I'll use it for blues with a MIA Fender Precision and a Little Mark III head though a 115 Trace cab, just to smooth things out. Your vid gave me the last push to obtain this pedal, thanks man!

It sounds good. Kind of similar to the Lusithand Devices Alma compressor, but with less features.

Hi, good video, , which one do you find better between the Ampeg and the Super Symmetry?
@Trailightband9 ай бұрын
Hi Daniele. I like the Ampeg better. The Super Symmetry has a strange noise that was associated with the LED’s that I didn’t quite like.

@@Trailightband hanks for the reply, have you noticed any differences in terms of sound? the ampeg seems to sound tube-like

great sound I am looking for a comp I'm an occasional gig player but I play practise and study at home with headphones mainly would it be a good next tool for me ?????

I believe that a compressor is always a good tool to have and a great pedal to start with.

Good review. I have a couple questions though. Do your basses have active pickups? If they do, then did you have to engage the -15 db switch in the pedal?
@Trailightband2 жыл бұрын
My basses are active yes. There is no -15dB switch on the pedal. You can use the output level to adjust gain stage.
