What kind of revue was that?? Bass in hand but no playing through amp.........we'd actually like to hear it!
@richardmerriam7044Ай бұрын
Two things; First get a screwdriver and tighten the chassis screws. I bought an RB108 and a RB112 about two or three years ago. Both amps had screws that were almost loose. Second, you can get a little boost if you turn the grit all the way down and turn the level all the way up. Don't be afraid to 'daisy chain' with other similar amps. I tried that with the RB112 fed by a Frontman 60 bass amp with a "Piledriver" boost. Insane volume.

I have the older version the Ampeg BA-110 40 watt bass combo amp. It has a great sound and I have no complaints either. I paid around $179 new several years ago. For just playing because I love bass in my living room I am very very happy with her. I have had the Ampeg SVT -CL300 watt tube head a a 810, 410 and the Ampeg 15E bass cabs all playing down at 2 ohms. Wonderful sound, but I was alway playing too loud and it kind of damaged my hearing (in fact it did according to my Doctors). I still have my Ampeg BA-210 and a newer Ampeg 15E as well as a Hartke HD112 and a 15" PA unpowered speaker cab that works good as a bass cab.I can play this rig down at 2 ohms too using my Peavy M3000 PA amp. I also have the Ampeg BA-108 another very good low powered bass combo amp. I just purchased a new Ampeg PF500 head to use with my bass cabs. Anyway my point is I play bass every day and these small Ampeg combo amps are so good and have great Bass tone. I have two fretles electric bases, a Hofner Beatle Bass, a 4 string fretted Ibanez Bass and a 5 string bass as well as a 6 string bass. All are good.I also have an older (purchased new) acoustic upright 3/4 sized Bass (they are all 3/4 size so don't be mislead by the description. Every upright bass you have ever heard is a 3/4 size bass. I also have a Guild Acoustic bass guitar also frettles. They are all good and easy to play. Life is good! - Peter age 73

I played both today at GC. This one was OK but the Rumble sounded better to me anyway.
@67NewEngland Жыл бұрын
I too have played both. The Fender Rumble has a toned focused heavily in the low mid frequencies which have a nice punch but it over powers a lot of the other frequencies and details of your bass tone and that grows old on your ear after you realize that. Therefore I liked the Ampeg better.

This looks like the perfect amp for band rehearsals or when we do live sound for a festival because of the DI out. This allows a bass player who doesn't have an amp to get an onstage bass amp volume and a DI out for front of house and the PA!!

I recently played my Yamaha BB1000s through a 50 watt RB-110 at GC and it was a wonderful match... I liked it much more than the 100 watt Fender Rumble, Boss Katana, Acoustic B100C, and even my own MarkBass CMD JB Players School combo. They didn't have the RB-115 at the store but I was so impressed with the 50 watt RB-110 that I ordered a 200 watt RB-115. I'm excited for it to arrive! :)

I got the Ampeg 500W RB-210 with a 15'' BBC extension cab for the rehearsal room in my studio. I expected it to be good enough for what I needed as I record with SVT amps and direct through Neve and API preamps. However I was quite astonished with the sound, and I use it for recording and studio rehearsal.

Ampeg sound IMO = low mid "grunt" w/ warm bass underneath and snappy highs on top. Only Ampeg has it. Yamaha is a quality company.

Thank God Yamaha bought Ampeg, because it's ridiculous that Ampeg's previous Solid State amps didn't sound as good as their Tube amps. You really expect me to believe that Ampeg's modern Solid State amps aren't as good as a 1969 SVT? Both Bergatino and Genzler, and even Darkglass sounds better than Ampeg's overpriced tube amps.

As far as the quality of Yamaha basses, Luís Mariutti of Angra used them in recording even when he was sponsered by another company, enough said.

as much as i like it and like the sound i would not recomend it for gigs. just a bit small with only a 10" driver and 50W. i think just knowing what i do about amps and speakers from my car audio days. i think one 12" and 100W is probably a good minium for live use

Do you know how the RB-108 compares to the RB-110?
@joetspaulding Жыл бұрын
no, but i have been into car audio my whole life and have always preferred 10"s no matter what brand. They go deep and are responsive too. My first amp was an 8" Fender and it was unsatisfying even for bedroom stuff
@legendsofthebravebard Жыл бұрын
the 108 is too quiet for my tastes, but the tone is clean. if you jam with a loud rock drummer, it's not going to work out. You will get drowned out easily
Jesus got to the end and he hasn't played a note! Its a bit mean to sell an amp at 50watt then look at the spec it becomes 30watt then look at the speaker impedance 4ohms so drop that down by half compared to 8ohm so you end up with a 15watt bass amp. for well over £200, not good enough for me.
