Very common issues with this amp and the SVT Classic. Total pains to work on, but worth it. For more info, Subscribe to this channel, join us at PsionicAudio, or email us at info@psionicaudio.com.

I just tested the amp at full volume using a Lakland 5 through an Eden 4x10. I pronounce this SVT healthy!

I remember lugging SVT's around back in the 70's. There were heavy even back when I was young and strong.

Thanks for sharing. My Ampeg made some buzzing noise when playing slightly louder and I thought (because I just bought it second hand) the cabs might be the problem (Ampeg Neo cabs, 4x10" and 1x15" connected via Speakon in series) but I checked them with my Fender Super Bassman and they sounded great, so I tired to connect them via jack speaker cable (both of them in series to have 4 ohm) and when switching from standby to on the amp went dead and the main fuse was blown. Normally turning the amp from standby to on (the mute switch engaged) produced a loud "pop" sound inside the amp but now the amp is "dead". I hope it is just a bad tube.... I guess the buzzing noise might have indicated a bad (or more than one) tube..... But what I found out, that the Fender Super Bassman sounds incredible with the 1x15" cab..so I will need to get one for the Fender :-). I will get it to the tech of mz trust and see what the problem was and let you know.... For tips on what else to check or replace in this amp to make it more reliable (I will remove the spring retainers...thanks for the advice) I will be thankful.
