Ampersand inks testing - Make your own scratchboard - BONUS speed drawing

I'm testing out the Ampersand inks on claybord. I used the black ink to turn claybord into scratchbord and scratched a bird out of it. Those are great quality products, highly recommended.

Awesome video and art. I am quite experienced with Ampersand Scratchboard and Claybord, but only tried coloring it a little, with not such good results. Today I purchased a set of the Ampersand inks and am excited to try to bring some life to an old piece. Thanks for the tutorial.

Thank you very much. Just make sure that your brush isn't too wet when you apply the colors as it might move a bit of the black and make everything muddy. You can also use watercolors.

Im so glad someone had tried this. I have a plan of trying it on sheet metal but I'm not sure what will bond or last

Also i wonder if you add extra layers of the color ink and then only one layer of the black ink over it if they will be more vibrant when you scratch off

The pencils are Derwent Inktense: amzn.to/2VMOf3R They are watersoluble and permanent once dry. The more layers of ink you add, the harder it is to scratch off all the way back to the white. But I guess if you added a few layers of one color and then one layer of black, you could just scratch off the black to reveal the color you added underneath. That would be a fun experiment to try.
