20 years ago when someone said to me that his keyboard can sound like real guitar i laughed and no matter how hard he tried to convince me he failed. Today it is possible.

The AmpleSound SC is a great VST (and I was chuffed as anything to win it in one of your competitions Mike) and this is a generous free upgrade. I downloaded it last night and looking forward to getting my hands on it when I have time (weather too nice at the moment here in the UK) As someone who always gave up playing the guitar just as my fretting fingers were hardening up (it's just not intuitive to me despite many attempts) being able to have something of this quality I can play via a keyboard is just wonderful but I accept it will never be the real thing - though Jason and the gang have done an amazing job!

Great video Mike and you gotta love Ample Sound's upgrade policy. I agree with Joe, my shredding days are never going to happen. Ample gives me great sounds, way better than I'd ever get playing guitar myself. Thanks for the update Mike.

Oh - I'm sure you are being modest about your guitar playing my friend :)

AHHH! Technology taking aim at my beloved instrument! (yours too). All is fair I guess. Slickly presented as usual. Nice job...
@CreativeSauce3 жыл бұрын
Haha yes. I know there are some keyboard players who will never get thier fingers sore :) So my attitude is, if you INSIST on using a plugin, at least use a decent one, and use it well:)

@@CreativeSauce Well if a guitar player is allowed to craft digital drums I guess it's only fair a keyboard player can lay down some guitars. We should create the ultimate virtual instrument jam where each contributor provides an instrument he doesn't actually play :P :P

You know, the bridge pickups do sound harsh, but I absolutely adore how it contrasts with the other options.

I'm curious what you as a seasoned guitarist think of the overall sound of the DI samples? Versatile enough to trick you into thinking it's the real thing? Or do hear clear differences? For me, it was a bit surprising that the demo in the end did sound a bit thin, almost as if run through a band pass. But this could be the result of the chosen amp/cabinet, right?
@CreativeSauce3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you mentioned this. I thought the lead guitars sounded thin. But I think this is mostly due to me writing, recording, and mixing the whole thing in about 2 hours! Basically, this piece of music didn't exist this morning. As a guitarist, I would always prefer to play the guitar. The subtleties of a real performance take A LOT of time to replicate on a piano role. Let's not forget, the sounds are a real guitar, but we are reassembling it into a whole instrument. Hats off to Ample Sound, its a mammoth task! Overall, I think if its used well, this instrument could fool a majority of listeners. But for me as a guitarist, it's quicker to plugin a guitar and play :)

Guitar plugins may never sound the same way a real guitar would but they really don't have to. Music-making is an art and some of the imperfections in all the individual elements can still come together to make a chart-topping piece. A guitarist can tell that the guitar sounds a bit off but those in the club and those buying the music are mostly focused on how the whole music makes them feel. That's why some really good instrumentalists have never made a great song while one average producer with no instrument or music theory skills keeps coming up with one winner after the other.

@@CreativeSauce Ah, ok, that makes sense! And many thanls for your judgment, it's helping me a lot in making a decision wether to own one of these Ample products!

That sounds great! Did you use a guitar input or the keyboard to play the demos?
@CreativeSauce3 жыл бұрын
All on keyboard Nick. That's about the best keyboard playing I can master lol. No shredding from me, on guitar or keyboard!

@@CreativeSauce Me too, I've got 3 nice guitars her, but they all need some TLC; new strings, set-ups, re-solderings etc.

It's true. The plugin doesn't really 'do it for you'. It's pretty easy to make it sound not like a guitar!
