Great video. Thank you for sharing. Both the Fender and the Fishman sound good. Pretty close. To my ears the Fender has the cleanest sound.

Really helpful, thanks! I'm curious, would the Fender work well with a few pedals? Something like a looper, or maybe a little bit of fuzz/overdrive?

Absolutely works with pedals. A video coming on them very soon, just waiting to get to the end of the school year next week.

Hi Rachel, I'm a bit late, but I still hope you'll read this. I have a fully electric soprano, 2 semi-acoustic concerts and a semi-acoustic tenor. Got a Fender acoustasonic 15 amp and I'm pretty happy with it. I use a pretty standard 3m Fender angled cable, do you think I could benefit from upgrading to a bettet cable?
@UkuleleWales3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks for the comment and question. Fender make pretty good cables so I doubt you will notice much difference with a more expensive cable. I term it like that as I have bought some "very" expensive cables and never really noticed that much difference but do get more annoyed when the cable gets damaged! I would stay away from very cheap cables though as these do tend to cause a few issues.

Because I have zero knowledge of amps and related stuff I would like to know which guitar cable / microphone cable and microphone I can buy best Thank you very much for your help! Hi Clemie, you have great ukes! TBH, I normally go for middle priced cables, often I choose because of the colour. I don't but very cheap cables but I never buy very expensive cables as they do often get damaged, especially out gigging. I really like the Shure SM58 as a vocal mic. Hope this helps and greetings bcak from Wales.

Hi, I would check through basic first like cable, power, battery in uke etc. You shouldn't beed to use either a mic ot headphones, you should hear sound directly from the amp. You might find some useful info here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqq6moyMbtaWj6c

Hi im in New Zealand. I just recently started learning to play a baritone uke tuned DGBE. I have been playing accordion for years and i want something lighter. I have a Roland BA330 amp so are keen to try it out once i have fitted a pickup system on my uke. By the way I am hoping to buy a Blueridge Tenor guitar. BR40 TCE. They have 4 steel strings. They are hard to get so may go for something like PONO UL4 - 4. Like what you are doing and would appreciate any comments to me,
@UkuleleWales Жыл бұрын
Hi Colin, loved reading your comment, sending warm wishes around the world to you. The Roland is a great amp, you have excellent taste! I'm not expert on Tenor guitars or baritone ukes but both look really nice instruments and you seem to have set yourself some fabulous goals for the future. Understand your looking for a lighter instrument - I'm originally a double bass player! Good luck with your goals. :-)

Hi Julia, it's a Red5 Audio Condenser mic. I don't think it is made anymore, I bought it a while back, it was the cheaper end of the market. Have a look for a condeser mic - are you looking to record with it? If so it'll have to go into a mixer or an audio interface. Hope this helps.

Right now I have the Enya acoustic plus uke. I saw your video on the Flight pathfinder electric uke. I might want to get it down the road. I want to get an amp that has Bluetooth and one I can charge and take outside. But I want to make sure I can play both types of ukes on it. What would you recommend?
@UkuleleWales3 жыл бұрын
Great to hear you have an Enya and the Flight Pathfinder is a very cool electric uke, especially for the price. In terms of amps, you could use both the Enya and the Flight with any guitar or bass amp, just never use a bass on a guitar amp. Hope that helps but please feel free to ask any more questions.

wow thank you for the demonstration, personally, I like the warm and clear sound, present on the fender, it seems that on fishman, it is a little withdrawn, but all this is only subjective to my ears. 🙌🏻✌🏻,funny the jazzy sound with ukulele😹
@UkuleleWales4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. This is actually the first time I'd really compared the Fender and the Fishman, I still slight prefer the sound of the Fishman (as you say, it is all very subjective) but actually happy that I got the Fenders for school and didn't spend the extra money. More than happy overall with the Fenders and much cheaper. ;-)

Hi Rachel, I have a bass ukulele (flight e-bass) and I'd like to buy very soon an electric ukulele (flight Pioneer). Do you know if there is a good amp (combo) that could fits the both? Just to play at home. I've found something from Positive Grid (Spark or mini Spark) but don't know if it could fits my needs (unable to try it - sale online only). Your lights would be welcome 😁
@UkuleleWales2 жыл бұрын
My advice would be to get a bass amp. It's not good to put a bass through a guitar amp but absolutely fine to put a ukulele / guitar through a bass amp, in fact I only used bass amps for a number of years. Personally I wouldn't get a Positive Grid spark as it's not designed for the bass and I've read users are not happy if the do play a bass through one. Hope that helps but please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

@UkuleleWales2 жыл бұрын
Love the Fishman too but the Fender is also a great amp for a bit less money. Love Flight ukes and have both concert and tenor voyagers as well as the Pathfinder and Vanguard solid body ukes. Would love a Moonbird one day. I haven't tried a Pono master series, I have played some really nice Ponos and some that I didn't rate quite as much but never actually owned a Pono.

Do you have ideas, recommendations in purchasing the whole package ( electro acoustic ukulele with amplifier set in one)? Thank you 😘
@UkuleleWales3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I haven't really seen many sets with both ukulele abd amp but depending where you buy from, you can easily match up a suitable amp fro a uke. If you are buying from a music shope, they'll offer advice, but basically any electric or electro acoustic uke will work and it the same for amps. I personally prefer acoustic guitar amps for my ukes but often play them through bass amps so it all really depends on your budget. Please feel free to ask questions about particular amps and ukes.

How do I amplify my acoustic Ukelele? I know that Acoustic Guitars can be done with a Mic in front of it, but how reliable is it. Nice to hear a Welsh accent from a Bristolian living in Canada
@UkuleleWales3 жыл бұрын
Good question Craig! Yes, you can plonk a mic in front of it like a guitar but it does depend on the quality of the mic (and amp) that you are using as to how good it sounds. I can also either add an internal pic up - doable but fiddly but you can ask a music store / lithier to do it OR you can actually get external pic ups that don't require any alterations to the uke. Something like this: www.southernukulelestore.co.uk/accessories/pickups/tgi-tgat1-single-transducer-ukulele-pickup-with-end-pin-socket/ Hope this helps.
