I installed the Amplink PDM on my Honda Pacific Coast 2 years ago and it was so simple. It is compact and it cleaned up a mess of accessory wiring. Best power distribution module on the market. It is more expensive than other brands or making your own fuse box activated by a relay but worth every penny. I added one extra item to my install, a ground bar to have a central place to ground all the accessories and it guarantees a solid grounding. I was tempting to save some money and purchase the unit that you connects to you computer to change the settings but I am glad I didn't. One of the best additions I added to my motorcycle.
@Revalid82 жыл бұрын
Hi, what ground bar did you install, please?
@stevenedwards83882 жыл бұрын
@@Revalid8 I don't know the exact brand. I picked up a seven terminal ground bar at Lowes and installed it to the frame of the motorcycle. Get one that is corrosion resistant. Under one of the terminal screws I installed the ground wire from the Amplink PDM and a ground wire that I ran over to the negative terminal of the battery. To make sure that I wouldn't ever loose that ground connection between the two wires, I soldered them together. Screwing the terminal bar to the frame should be enough to offer good continuity for grounding your wires but this way I will never have to worry. My I installed the ground bar beside the Amplink PDM so all my wiring is neatly together. I also tinned the ends of any stranded wire installed under a screw. The screws are designed for solid wire. Happy Riding!

The Amplink PDM is excellent. I installed one the day I brought my Wing home and it controls my cell phone mount, my radar detector, my Garmin 590LM, and my auxiliary lights. With the "delay on" and "delay off" features it allows you to customize each circuit for how you want it to behave. Using Wago connectors you can set easily setup distribution points. Best part is it is totally waterproof. Great recommendation Max!

Considering this on my Indian. I like the idea of bluetooth opposed to the other same manufacturer unit where you have to plug it in to a computer. I noticed a Skene Designs light box on there too. I haven't seen any other videos yet and see this is more than a year old now. But any time on any of the motorcycle forums I'm on when anyone asks about extra lighting, turn signals, etc. I always recommend Skene Design's products. I'm not a spokesperson for them or anything, just a satisfied customer that has been using them for more than 8 years now. I transferred my Photon Blasters and P3 tail lights from my Honda to my Indian when I got it. The best lights for visibility especially during the day I think I have ever seen.

I do have some video somewhere on how I ran the Garmin Harness, and I think it showed the mount partially complete. But at present, I am doing these mounts completely custom on a one-off basis, so I don't have any good video I can make.

Thanks mate, Did you attach it to the pop up, in which case it is no longer operative or did you attach to the top of dash under the pop up?
@Traxxion5 жыл бұрын
@@shaneevc8879 I pulled out the "guts" of the pop up, and then used a Honda self tapping screw (like inside the trunk walls) to hold it down permanently. I mounted the back support to the hole where the pop up button used to be. Electrical connection has a bracket that will get you "close".

Question about the Amplink install. I am using 2 outputs. Output 1 is for my radar and output 2 is for my Garmin Zumo XT. Output 1 works like it’s suppose to with a 7 second delay. Output 2 does not. In the app under the monitor section it tells me output 2 is off. I don’t see where I can turn this function on. Is it possible the way the triggers are setup? I purchased your radar mount (along with many other parts you sell for the 2020 Honda Goldwing DCT) and took your advice in purchasing the Amplink. Any help would be very much appreciated.

@Traxxion4 жыл бұрын
@@davidjenkins3749 yes, you are thinking of output wires. I think it has 6 output channels... so you can connect accessory lights, heated clothes, radar, etc, etc. The triggers are harder to understand. Each of those channels can be triggered to activate based on different events... such as turning the key on, or turning the key off, and they can be programmed differently... such as people who put a ton of lights on their bike like to leave them on to display while their bike is parked. You can use a trigger that is "on" when the key is "off".

@bramfrank4093 жыл бұрын
Overpriced, and overkill. Electrical connections underseat aren't exposed to spray on any bike I've even owned. If the Amplink is done the same as Rowe's PDM60 you'd better put a big fuse on the power cable at the battery terminal. If you have heated gear there is no reason to mess with the settings based on seasons - it isn't as if the gear draws any power when your vest, gloves or whatever isn't plugged in. Have a battery maintenance charger? Use the SAE cable that came with it and connect it directly to the battery. Do NOT run the power through the fuse block in case something happens to the device. Delayed power start? My FJR1300 enables the headlight after engine start. My trigger relay is connected there. So I don't have to wonder if my gear has come on before starting the engine - and the huge electrical spikes generated by the starter are isolated from the equipment by that relay. One good use for the extra triggers might be to control driving lights - wire the trigger to the high beam and the output to your lights - I'm not sure whether this unit can control voltage, but if it can, you might run your driving lights at half-bright on low beam and full bright with high beams, using 2 outputs and 2 triggers for that. I also strongly suggest that you switch ALL of your accessories to prevent battery rundown in case you forget to switch off your GPS or radar detector at the end of a long riding day. I use an optimate 3+ battery maintenance charger and as I suggested, it is connected directly to the battery. So I have an 80 amp automotive relay and inline fuse in series with a Blue Sea 6 circuit fuse block - total cost about $45, saving me almost $240 to pay for a set of tires.
