Good video. Good technique. Who cares in the comments about where the heck the traditions came from. If it helps one defend themself in a confrontation then all the training has been worth it. Even if one never has a fight then it's still been fun learning. Nuff said

I trained Wado-Ryu Karate and Mugendo KickBoxing but I have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu the past couple of years and I find it more to my liking. I have to say when I was younger and training in Wado-Ryu there was a lot of wrist locks and sweeps but more striking and of course Kata , my favourite Kata was Kushenku . Kick-Boxing was great too but as I've gotten older I find BJJ more to my liking but this style is very interesting and I like what I see , Thank you for putting up this video...!! I trained in north star at kappeli tehdas in the late 90s for a few years. Highly recommend if you can find a class outside of Finland. There's a lot of stick fighting involved also which wasn't shown in this vid. Possibly the best martial art for self defence there is. Aivu is a great sensei. Can't believe how old he looks now, well so do I also, it was 25 years ago.

Much like the old WJJF, this looks like a fine martial arts platform. There will be people branching off into flashy wushu, brutal combatives, trapping, soft techniques and competitive MMA, grappling and kickboxing but they will share a common syllabus, be able to follow whichever branch of the martial arts interests them and learn from one another. More power to them

hexty82 I just was curious what these guys are actually training in? ok I know nothing about this, but I always thought there were mainly blocks locks and throws. But here these guys are doing strikes kicks weapons usage and all sorts of things I never thought associated with Jiu Jitsu. Is there a reason to train in Japanese Combat Jiu Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

irish seaman you're correct there fella. The basis for traditional jujitsu is just that but it's a hybrid. Theoretically you can add what you want to it. Provided that you've got your core. You know? They must have a massive syllabus.

This is good. You don't need Brazillian Jiujitsu when you learn this style. This style is based on dispatching your opponent as quickly as possible, which is what combat is all about. Jiujitsu was conceived to handle real combat that occurred in feudal Japan. Rolling around on the ground, like they do in Brazillian Jiujisu, would have been unheard of and counterproductive in real combat.

Scooby Doo If that's the case, it wouldn't surprise me. However, these moves in the video are still present in Japanese Jujitsu. It's a case, as it often is in martial arts, of techniques crossing over many different styles.

Tradicional Jujutsu it's a art of war ... until this day is one of the most complete fighting system in the world ... they train punches and kicks . They train to fight against one and more opponents, they train to fight armed opponents and they train to fight with knifes , sticks, Batts , and more weapons, they train to fight stand up and for ground fight the Jujutsu it's perfect for street fight no rules, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu it's different they ware made for sports with rules and it looks like more judo then Jujutsu even the no Gi match looks more judo them Jujutsu and that's fine cause each art must fit it's purpose , jiu-jitsu created for grappling and combat sports with excellent ground fighting in a control environment. Jujutsu it's an art of war made for kill or be killed and for self defense, street fighting, fight for your life no doubt that Jujutsu, tradicional Jujutsu is until today the best to help you in a confrontation with one or more attackers ... the Gracie, master Helio they learn traditional Japanese Jujutsu and they had to change it to today Bjj, because it wouldn't fit for sport because it's about killing and injury your opponent and in MMA or vale tudo , they couldn't use all the Jujutsu strength because it's not permitted you can not break a leg or a neck or an arm or even kill in a combat sports event so Helio change his Jujutsu to an art more suitable for what it is today a grappling art and very effective one ... but Jujutsu it's not for sport it's not pretty it's what it is an art of war made for self protection. ..that's all ... I do Shinobijutsu and Jujutsu to balance my body and skills mixing the 2 I cover ground fight and stand up fight, it have kicks and punches and locks and break techniques and the ninpo Taijutsu and ninpo strategy to respond what ever comes in my way and of course I train with fire warms the today weapons so , I try to have a better and more complete Bujutsu as I can. .. but that's me ... Be well . Train what ever fits you be prepared for what ever ... they are all good in the end it's about you and they way you train and that's it .. train , Learn, do something to help you kip on going ....

@doeper
@doeper 9 жыл бұрын
wetterwille173 Not really. Karate is from Okinawa. Shotokan came to Japan fairly late in the game. Jujutsu arts tended to use more open hand techniques, strikes to the eyes, and so on to open space for weapon use or create kuzushi for throws. The throw was the finale, the strike just a method to get there. And the round kicks are relatively modern inventions, as are head kicks in general. Kicking with the top of the foot is also strictly a sport thing. But this doesn't look like karate technique either. Kickboxing, IMO.

Karate was created EXACTLY in Okinawa. Jujutsu doesn't have all the strikes and blocks that are used in Karate. Because most of the strikes and blocks in Karate void the philosophy of Jujutsu in the first place. Jujutsu is combination of the principle of Ju and Aiki.

And we use strikes during our techniques that are obviously the same as those used in Karate.

Jujutsu (in the west known as Jiu Jitsu or Ju Jitsu because the original Japanese way of writing it was uncommon to westerners I believe) is a Budo (ぶど) sport. Karate & Judo are ぶど sports. Aikido and Tai Jutsu are ぶど sports. Kendo is a ぶど sport. Why do people on the internet always make those statements as if one martial art stole techniques from another... It’s something around those lines that I’m reading in this comment section once again... My comment doesn’t do anything good but I just felt like posting it pff come on everybody, it’s all Japanese Budo, it’s not as if they added Kung Fu in here like someone else stated in this comment section😂
