A lot of these throws came from the opponent overstepping / losing their position or balance, allowing the attacker to achieve the position where the throw was possible. That said, I think Judo has always had a bit more of the 'brute-strength' element than e.g. Aikido or Jujitsu (the other two 'redirect your opponents strength' style arts I'm semi-familiar with). Mind you, I admit my knowledge / experience with Judo is only ~25-30 years, and the early years are a bit hazy due to youth... so it may have been different way back when :D)

What I love when you hone any skill enough is when you managed to improvise whithin that skill purely on instinct in a way that you would not be able to if you had the time to think about it. I did Judo for 15 years and I had a very unique style only centered on arm lock to the point where I always knew instinclively where my openent elbow where and how to move to start putting pressure on them, purely on instinct and whithout being limited by defined techniques (I know I should have practiced Ju Jutsu, but it was not an option at the tme ^^) But compared to some of these throws where you see them start something then litterraly FEEL, with their back and experience, the position of their oppenent and their center of gravity. Then adjust their posture midthrow to shake the balance of their oppenent and orient the throw. The amount of accumulated experience is mindblowing.

The rare and awesome physics of these special moves are done out of COUNTERING! It is the counter that gives this impression as countering is all sensitivity and with sense comes the most natural type of physics away from traditional expected motions of being the server as bland. The counters are what Im always watching for as Ive learned these from my dad , a SOP Vet just taught me counters as I never or got taught the into or basic set ups. Just say a throw with me I will tuck in tight and use elbow is the center of my throw to twirl tight off his momentum of the grab and throw which always ends up an elbow to the gut with his back slammed hard as a knock out your wind counter. Counters are what makes good Judo into great results of showing something not meant to be seen as basics.
This sport is so sick. I wish it was more widespread where I live
