Hi, water accidentally leaked from my counter into the wiring of my built in oven, I heard a buzz and saw flashing behind the time display then a glass popping sound. The oven itself is now unresponsive. Would you say it is the thermal fuse that got damaged? Thank you.

Great video, your guide looks very easy to follow. Not sure if that's my problem though (dual-fuel range). After cleaning the stove top, I pressed the ignition button to light a burner and there were two loud bangs from somewhere inside the range, at which point the range lost all power. Nothing works - both electric ovens, oven lights, burner ignition, clock etc. Does this seem like it could be the thermal fuse or something else?

Thanks for watching. If the entire range lost power after that then it could be a blown fuse, or a short circuit. Check the fuse and you can check the wires for continuity at the terminal block & power cord. Look for any burn marks or evidence or damage.

I can't find my termal fuse. I don't think I have one. Any idea where it could be if it's not in the back? Both my broil & bake elements aren't working. They both stopped working suddenly, and my guess is it's a thermal fuse

Thanks for watching. Since the display and the lights work, you've verified that 1 line of power is active. Its worth checking the fuse to see if it has blown. There are models that the fuse is connected to line 2, and will disconnect power to all heating elements. Additionally a faulty outlet or power cord can also cause all the heating elements to stop working. You can check this by entering your model number here: www.amresupply.com/lookup In many models the temperature sensor will monitor for high temperatures instead of a fuse. If your model does not have a fuse, the stove elements work but the control board does not work, then it's likely a issue with the control board.

Thanks for watching. When you preheat, both oven both elements are used. During a bake cycle 20% of the heat comes from the top broil element and 80% comes from the bake element on the bottom. If you turn on broil, then only the top broil element will be active.

My Kenmore oven is t working. There seems to be no gas going to it, the igniter doesn't turn on at all. Could that be the thermal fuse as well? The stove top itself works fine.

Thanks for watching. In this case you can check the ignitor for continuity with a multimeter. Check to make sure that the gas valve is open and that there is a good supply to it. A faulty thermal fuse could also prevent the system from running and the gas valve from opening.

Thanks for watching. To test a fuse you are simply testing for continuity which doesn't require power for the test. We always recommend to unplug the stove and pull it away from the wall so you can safely work on it with plenty of space.

Thanks for watching. We don't have any specific videos showing these repairs on wall ovens. It would be smart to first look up your model to see if it actually has a thermal fuse / where it is located. With wall ovens, many of the parts can be access by removing the front control panel. The temperature sensor and oven elements will have screws accessible from inside the oven. Thanks for watching. It could be an issue with one of the two 120V lines of power. The display, lights and clock runs off of a single 120V line of power. Try resetting the breaker. Hi! My bake element is dead. It literally exploded. I made the replacement. I then realized that the broil element was no longer working. I thought it was the fuse. I realized there was none on my Frigidaire cfEF312FSB. I made some tests. I still listen to the click from the relay. Does someone have and idea? Thanks for watching. An oven will cycle on and off. If it is not maintaining the temperature and your model does not have a control board then it could be a faulty oven thermostat which uses a bulb as a sensor connected to a dial for the heat settings.

Sometimes the part numbers include several numbers at the end which are for model variations. If there is a similar model made in the same year, try looking up that number and see if it works. The parts are often similar. You can also search by part number.

Thank you, I was confident it was the thermal fuse since my LG unit's stove works and control panel does respond, but it just wasn't responding to the cooking functions (temperature settings don't show up when I turn the knob to any cooking functions), but apparently replacing this didn't fix the situation 😖

Thanks for watching. It depends on how the fuse is wired in the system. In some cases it might only be wired to the oven heating elements. In that case it would cause an issue with the oven but not affect the cooktop. In other models a fuse will disconnect power to the entire range. Regardless you can test the fuse for continuity following the steps in the video. Each stove element (on a glass top stove) uses a limiter which feeds into the hot surface light. Thanks for watching. We have mentioned cases where the oven has no power but burners still work but the scenario you are describing is not something that should occur. It is very uncommon for the oven to not have power until one of the stove burners are active. This should not happen based on how it is wired. The oven elements are wired independently and should not be effected by the operation of the stove heat switches. It is possible that there is a short somewhere in the circuit.
