I am losing my low and high frequency hearing at a younger age than expected-hopefully, this kind of research bears fruits! Keep up the great work

Research like this touches me in a way that music and seeing kindness and empathy between people does. Thanks so much for sharing, Amrita! Truly fantastic work. The sense of hearing is just incredible and still something taken for granted as long as you don't have trouble with it. If we can fix hearing-loss (and hopefully noise induced tinnitus at that) it will improve the quality of life for so many people.

She writes that mammals don’t regenerate haircells. This is not, according to me, completely right. The danish scientist Kirkegaard and his colleague discovered that there are bats( mammals) can regenerate their haircells. It was published in PubMed.

*_Question:_* Does this ATOH1 need to be constantly present for the gene to be expressed or is it like a toggle switch, once used the gene is permanently on?

What if we already have a cochlear implant, can we still get this treatment? Or do we need to remove the implant?

This is very interesting. I have recently experienced sudden sensorineural hearing loss, and as I'm sure you are aware doctors globally are debating whether the increase in reported cases is a result of long Covid or not. As my career relies heavily on my ears, this has been a devestating blow.

Thank you for your work! I experienced hearing loss due to inner ear infection, possibly COVID. It came on very suddenly. It is devastating, and a problem I deal with every day.

I'm sure this will be enlightening, but I'll be using the subtitles because with my perfectly adequate hearing THE SOUND QUALITY OF THIS RECORDING IS SO POOR THAT IT'S ACTUALLY HURTING MY EARS. Do you not have the resources to provide professional sound equipment? Please look into it for future videos.
