His was THE ONLY Yoshi in top 100, meaning that no other Yoshi players has come close to achieving the results he has and therefore means that it was literally him alone pushing Yoshi up the tiers, which is wild when you think about it.

Yoshi hasn't been a Mid Tier character for years. By the metrics the community uses to determine tier placement, Yoshi stopped having anything in common with Ganon, Luigi, Mario, etc for a while

@@Firan25 Bottom tier is Game and Watch and lower and 19th place. Yoshi hasn't been considered anywhere near bottom tier for a while now, being ranked 10th on the most recent official tier list. That tier list did include wobbling so a lot of people think Yoshi may be above Ice Climbers and maybe Pikachu, with some small number of people thinking he might even be above Peach.

The fact that after EVO, it was Mang0 who said that a low tier couldn't win a super major. Flash forward a few years later, and we have Yoshi, who was once considered the 6th worst character in the game, under the hands of aMSa, who had some casual knowledge and maybe like 5 years of proper training, going toe to toe with Fox, one of the undisputed best characters in the game, under the hands of Mang0, one of the then 5 rulers of the Melee scene who each have been bettering themselves for over a decade, in _GRAND👏 FCKING👏 FINALS👏_ of Big House 10, the most packed, and the most stacked, Melee tournament the world had ever known. And the Yoshi won. In a journey that only started because a man really liked Yoshi and wanted to prove a point. aMSa is a fcking legend. Not much else to be said.
