We stopped accepting PayPal for 2 reasons. High transaction rates and no fee refund if a customer returns or cancels an order. If a customer for example placed an order for a $1000 and decided to cancel the order after 5 minutes, PayPal will not refund the sellers transaction fee (5%). We'll automatically loose $50 for doing nothing. It's a no brainer. Shops that do not accept PayPal and do not bow down to these terms are not in the wrong and nothing dodgy about it.

Love the Weller soldering station. The microscope looks good, too.
@skeggjoldgunnr31672 жыл бұрын
I used Weller at a few small engineering firms back in the '80's. But at Rocketdyne Aerojet General and at Motorola Government Electronics group - we used Pace. I guess when you have that good government money you can buy the best. Pace trained me. Even though Martin Marietta had already certified me class A - for aerospace work. Pace engineers said that I will learn how to solder from them and they laughed. Well. I did. Wow. They had it all mastered down to a science of procedure = results. "Why are you choosing *that* tip? What temperature will permit 3 seconds dwell in that application? Is THAT the proper equipment, the right iron, etc for this job then?" They made me THINK - and PREP for the solder joint work ahead of me. PERFECT filet and perfect wetting, mirror shiny, every joint. Canon plugs, terminals, SMD legs, all joints were now 90% think plan and prep - 10% my skill. I had previously soldered 90% skill and 10% swapping tips or equipment. I had been making my solder work a task, a fight. I learned to respect those people. I've used their equipment in my shop at every workstation 'since then. It costs a little more than others but I'm of the opinion that soldering cannot be done better than the PACE way. Check out their training videos!

@skeggjoldgunnr31672 жыл бұрын
@@michaelscottcutler3627 Posting external links in someone's video comment section is rude. Just search for "Paceworldwide". It's amazing how I've been soldering professionally in the aerospace field 'since 1972 and I've HAD Pace training, PASSED Martin Marietta classification...and LEARNED from my first Pace "basic soldering" video. Every video stands STILL to this day as an EXCELLENT training aid. Some of the things you see in the videos may seem to be old or obsolete - but you'll get it: it's all about procedure.

Sorin, You need to get a .5x threaded adapter for your microscope camera to attach to you trinocular microscope. You have the 1x right now and the picture quality won't be as good as a .5x. If you need me to send you what to search since YT wont let me put a link - 0.5X Microscope Adapter,CTV Microscope Lens Camera Interface Adapter. Then on the bottom of the microscope search for the .5X WD 165 lens. It will give you a great field of view and make the picture much better. I'm currently using a .35x adapter with the .5x lens but for that specific HDMI camera you will like the .5x adapter.
@shiftctrlhack2 жыл бұрын
A .35x adapter will give a slight tunnel vision but it gives you alot more working space. You should try the .5x first and what a night a day difference it makes.

I think the mounting ring for the microscope should be mounted upside down it is more practical to lower the focus rack than raising it . Also if you counter turn the both focus knobs it stiffens he sliding mechanism and is not lose for gravity to pull it down.

I am a pathologist and bought a (the university I worked did not have a microscope with camera and never reimbursed my expenses) Amscope student microscope with a camera, long time ago by post. Postage cost was huge by weight. It is by the side of my bed in it's original box. I am fully retired. It needed windows software and I am guy who only use Linux for computing. Camera was good but windows software did not cover the entire field of view in high resolution. I used low resolution and used my Linux (GIMP) Photoshop like utility to magnify the images. I published a book on how to use of a student microscope in Amazon. I wish this gentleman write a book with his experience. By the way, Amscope for my liking was the only company who could help me. No other company has the outreach to the third world. I am from Ceylon. This video is excellent and his relaxed attitude I am impressed. I do not have that patience.

I used a PC monitor articulating arm for my cheap Chinese Eakins trinocular microscope.I also 3d printed an adapter to mount the microscope head to the monitor articulating arm and mounted adjustable goose neck LED lighting into it. All in it cost me around £200. £800 for the amscope though... 😬 Anyway nice setup Sorin!

You have a parts list? I'm looking for a cheap alternative, myself. I've been using a cheap hand held I found at a thrift store just checking over my work after the fact so it isn't ideal. A bit confused what PC monitor articulating arm would be best, which microscope, where to find the .stl, basically everything.

@@androxilogin I don't know if Sorin allows links or not. Search for "Save £200 ($282) on an Amscope/Eakins Microscope Articulated Arm Using This Inexpensive Vesa Adapter" and it'll being up the video I did. I specifically use an Eakins microscope. Everything is linked in the description including the STLs and written guide. There are plenty of other options though, and since I posted that video there have been a few other people design similar adapters.

The more expensive camera for £600 should be with the Sony sensor and autofocus. I didn't check it but I believe that's the reason it's expensive. That's a very useful feature for someone who uses the camera instead of a stereoscope.

I use a similar setup. The microscope is Eakins witch I do believe is a rebranded AmScope... The camera adapter look like mine but not sure, you didn't show it in close :) But if it is like mine, it is very crappy one, you'll never be able to have good orientation and good focus in same time when you move the microscope. Anyway there is quite good adapters, with rotating ring for the focus, they are way better. For the arm, I was not crazy as you, to pay around 200+ USD, so I bought a articulating monitor stand for a 25-30 USD, made an very very simple adapter and voila :) everything is fine... And that way I don't have the plate, the arm is fixed to the edge of my bench... My camera is rebranded Heyear HY1139 it is written again "eakins". Anyway it isn't very good, the resolution is fine, the picture quality is fine, but there is not a good manual exposure. But the price was around 70-75 USD :)

@Mr Guru I'd like to see the difference in magnification at a certain working space. Different phones can give different results depending on the camera quality. I have a phone rigged onto a swinging arm and find it quite comfortable looking at a screen. I think it would be awkward for me to peer into a microscope. For example Northridge chap likes to look at his monitor screen rather than peering too. Still would be good to compare a flagship phones image to the microscope though.
