If you rely on serious diesel power, AMSOIL diesel oils and bypass filtration systems provide the protection you need to fight wear and extend engine life. Inside your engine, soot particles smaller than a human hair are attacking your turbo, cams, and bearings
It is up to your diesel oil and filtration system to protect these critical components and maintain your diesel power. Unfortunately, no matter how good your oil and filter, some dirt and soot will contaminate your engine.
Diesel pickups come equipped with a full-flow filtration system. All the oil required to properly lubricate your engine flows through the filter fast enough to properly maintain proper operation and achieve sufficient oil cleanliness. These full-flow filters remove particles from the oil large enough to cause catastrophic damage (typically 20 microns or larger) but they allow smaller particles to get through and circulate inside your engine, causing wear.
The solution to this issue is the AMSOIL bypass filtration system. These systems feature a second filter that eliminates most solid contaminates from diesel oil. Watch to find out how the AMSOIL bypass system sets the standard.

The reason is because the bypass filter is filled with fresh clean oil in the demo, and they only run it for a short time after switching it to the bypass filter. Every single demo you see like this they will cut away after 10-15 seconds. A 2 micron filter will filter down to 2 microns, but you'll never get new clear oil out of one. You'd need a centrifuge to get pure clean oil. Even then I'd imagine recycled oil is filtered through some kind of sub micron filtering or something else to get it clear again.

The demo is using black fine particles, it's not the same as old black oil, that has had constant heat and pressure and friction on it, and other changes done to it. Your bypass filter is working good and as it should. The color change in this video is simply removing those very fine black particles. And that is what it does. There is more going on in an engine that makes it turn darker. This is not a demo to show it can change the color or keep it a certain color, it's showing you exactly what it's supposed to do, filter those fine particles.
@wiredforstereo

That's because in real life, your engine will have those ultra small soot particles under 2 microns, which will still color the oil. However, the oil will not be as thoroughly black and opaque as oil that hasn't been bypass filtered.

@@StarHunter28 Oil pressure is not everything. As long as there is enough, there is enough. Extra doesn't help anything. I run thinner oil, for start up (5w-40 for diesels) and yes, the oil pressure is lower on startup, but in reality, the flow is higher because it flows more easily. Oil pumps are positive displacement, pumping a non-compressible liquid. Therefore, for each revolution of the engine, X volume of oil is pumped. If the oil pressure is lower, that just means it is pumping more freely (or in a worn engine, it's getting out in more places more quickly). When it gets too low, like if there is fuel dilution, that's where you have problems, because the oil is too thin to prevent wear.

Brent S...............The black oil in Diesels is small particles of "SOOT" that are very small, like .0000009 that you see. When these small particles AGGLOMERATE (Gain Growth) and become larger, the by-pass filter will then take them out,but the very small soot particles will still be there causing the oil to look black.

Honestly the factory filter was cleaning allot out before the switch was turned. I question the added media they used for demonstration. Because had they left the factory filter going longer it looks like it would of cleaned the fluid nearly identically the retutning fluid looks a tinted a shade darker from factory filter but not far off. I'm willing to bet this was rushed with thicker particels the factory filter could of easily removed. Let's try a longer more detailed test with proven factors.

So why do diesel trucks that have this system still have oil black as the ace of spades just after 1000 miles?
@Misesian86
@Misesian86 3 жыл бұрын
Oil turning black is normal. As soon as you turn on the engine with clean oil, and it gets to temperature, it will turn black. As soon as the oil is subjected to heat, it turns black. The black in this demo is carbon black to simulate wear particles. The black you see in every day operation is not soot, but oxidation, and is normal, not indicative of anything undesirable. Dark oil or black oil is meaningless, oil samples are the only way to know if it’s good or not. I have 3 semi trucks and all three have an Amsoil system on it. I even gave a bypass filter on one of my reefer units, from a different manufacturer. Oil bypass filtration is a proven, effective technology.
@emrwtf
@emrwtf 2 жыл бұрын
@@Misesian86 I don't buy that at all. Oil has to burn to turn black that fast, which would be burnt oil. What's burnt is the diesel fuel, which is sooty, which is scraped into your pan by the rings or blowby. Dark oil and black oil are two different things. On my corolla after 1k miles its still not soot black, which is what the dude was asking about. Black that you cant see through is soot, not oxidized oil. You can test it yourself by heating some motoroil up to 250 in a pan on your stove. keep stirring it, it wont turn soot black. It may darken up some, but it wont turn soot black. A diesel engine is always gonna have black oil, but its not due to oxydation.
@Misesian86
@Misesian86 2 жыл бұрын
@@emrwtf Heating it in a pan does not subject it to pressure. Oil turning black means it’s doing its job. No amount of bypass filtration will fix that. I run oil samples on all my stuff. I know what the soot content is. On both my semi truck and reefer unit, it’s less than 1%. Anything higher than 3% should make you examine things. Between heat, pressure, and soot, oil will darken and turn black. My point is that the color of oil is meaningless. If you took two identical samples, one full flow, and one with a bypass filter, the one with bypass will have substantially fewer particles, over 1 micron in size. The point of bypass filtration is extend drains and reduce engine wear.

@BestEngineOil 2 жыл бұрын
Oil is still dark, yes that's normal. But if you look at it very, very closely you'll see the oil has much less soot in it, compared to the same miles on your truck's oil without the bypass filter. I will admit the demonstration in the video does not accurately portray oil color of a LIVE, running diesel engine. It DOES show the idea or concept of bypass filtration. A running diesel engine is generating soot and giving away as much free soot as possible wherever exhaust meets oil, like cylinder walls in the combustion chambers. And the engine is running 600 to 2000-3000 rpm under normal conditions and pumping quite alot of oil per minute for lubrication, and other things like powering injectors in my 6.0 Powerstroke for example. The regular oil filter is a full flow filter, it filters the full flow of the oil while still allowing the necessary high oil pressure for adequate oil throughout the engine. Meanwhile at the same time the bypass oil filter is only filtering a very small percentage of the oil flow so as not to interrupt the necessary high oil pressure which would cause engine failure and a terrible, expensive repair. And it's doing so down to a much smaller particle size, which is the whole point and purpose of it. It is the best way I know to filter down to 2 microns instead of the regular 20 microns in size the regular filter provides.

These demonstrations always cut away after a few seconds of the bypass filter running. It is instantly clear because the bypass filter is filled with clean, fresh oil. So when it is switched over you think, wow that's amazing. They are more than likely only dumping larger micron particles into it also. There's no need for this type of illusion BS but they all do it. Diesel oil is still gonna be black due to the sub 2-3 micron soot particle in it. It would turn black with 0.5 micron soot in it too. Like people have commented before, you have to send in oil samples to know how it's doing. If you look at other peoples data that is posted all over the place, you can easily extend your oil changes by double the miles, but to be sure you'd need to sample and decide for yourself. In my opinion they are worth installing if you plan to keep the vehicle long term. If you get a new car or truck every 2-3 years you probably don't need to bother. 2 micron particles will still wear on your engine, just slower than 20 micron particles. Think of it like sanding with 200 grit and 800 grit on wood. If you use enough 800 you'll still sand it down, just takes longer.

Steven Bryant............I installed one of these system on a 1994 Dodge/Cummins powered pickup, and ran it for 10 years/155,000 miles, and took oil analysis every 12,000 miles, and never changed out the oil, so yes, they do work!
