My Mazda 3 2018 has 175,000 miles, I have always used synthetic oil, regular changes, and used the Amsoil flush before my last oil change. I notice a big difference in engine performance. My process was this: 1) remove/replace current oil/filter, 2)add Amsoil flush to this oil change. 3) Run Amsoil in new oil change, remove filter anc drain 4) Replace oil/filter, test drive 5) Remove this oil/filter and replace with Amsoil oil and filter. I used cheaper oils and filters to flush and catch those contaminants, but the second oil change was quite dirty so it works. Acceleration is much smoother at all speeds, and im noticing better gas mileage so far.

Best engine flush is regular oil changes with premium synthetic oil and filter. If you're that worried about it, just change your oil when it starts to darken; before sludge can form and disperse through the engine.
@kevinalexander24844 жыл бұрын
Many vehicles come factory filled with synthetic now so they never get the chance to form tons of sludge if maintained properly. Oil changes can be done once per year but I still recommend folks do oil analysis the first two years so they know their engine is not wearing abnormally or getting fuel or glycol in their oil; oil analysis will detect what you cannot see with your eyes. Engine oil may look fine but have serious issues you cannot physically see.

Any engine flush thins out oil to helps dissolve sludge and remove from your engine as designed to do. One thing to consider is many oil pans have a nut welded inside the oil pan and the wider the nut, the more oil/flush stays in your oil pan even when drained. Can this be harmful ? Not completely sure but you can rest assured if your oil pan has a nut like this, you are leaving at least half a quart of dirty oil & flush in your engine oil pan that will be recirculated and mixed with your clean oil when engine is restarted. To completely clean your engine, do these two things: 1. Use a new-cheap oil filter for purposes of flushing your engine (throw cheap filter away & install quality filter after flush is complete) & 2. Remove & clean the oil pan so you get 100% of dirty oil & flush out of oil sump.
@kevinalexander24844 жыл бұрын
@@toronto543ontario6 I AGREE WITH YOU. Just making the point that certain vehicles will have a much larger percentage of flush still in the new oil. I have used AMSOIL Engine Flush (16 oz.) seven times over the past 27 years in five different vehicles. Had a PCV valve go bad on one vehicle & thought it best to flush a second time & then a Ford Windstar Van, i believe it was a 3.5L notorious for blown head gaskets; blew a head gasket and I flushed it a second time after replacing head gasket & machining the head. You are correct that the bulk of the flush is drained out and the remaining flush is diluted by the new oil that has the new additive package that would provide increased wear protection.

Add me to the list voting that a flush just isn’t needed in a well designed engine with proper oil change intervals of 3-10k miles depending on driving style. My long term Camry V6 is purring along just fine @ over 340k miles & 22 years of daily use while using random oils @ random change intervals. 🤷🏻♂️ But it got synthetic for the first 200k of its life. I’m sure that had a lot to do with it. Never saw a NEED for a flush and this Camry has the sludge prone 1MZ V6. 😳😬
@johnnicholas68023 жыл бұрын
Yes you're right however I bought my Camry at 180k miles. Put 20k miles on her with oil changes using Mobile 1 High Mileage every 4,000 miles. (Some say too often, I say oil is cheap and engines/another car isnt.) Well I can clearly see varnish buildup on the inside of the valve cover! Not caused by me, but rather the other 4 owners before me and their poor standards of maintenance! So in my case a flush is almost a necessity

@cfitzgduke Жыл бұрын
Take a small sample of the flushing oil after running the engine, then add the flush product and repeat the engine run and drain. This way you are comparing the flushing oil with the flushing agent. They are often the same when you have a clean engine. If not, then you are truly flushing gunk from a really dirty engine. A car you have maintained properly will get little benefit from the engine flush. So are we cleaning gunk and varnish or just flushing the old dirty oil? Too many people put in a flushing agent and say "Wow, look how dirty the oil is, this stuff really works." Is the oil flushing residual dirty oil and sediments, or is the flushing agent truly cleaning varnish and gunk? Kind of important to know which is of the two options is happening. When the flush oil sample alone is the same as the flush agent oil sample, you'll know your car’s engine is clean and regular oil changes with modern oils will require no more flushing agents. If the oil gets markedly dirtier with the addition of the flush agent, you’ll know you need to keep cleaning out the engine build up. Normally, this won’t be the case. Use either a quick step agent like Moly or a 1000 mile clean like Auto-RX or Marvels, but please don’t risk engine or seal damage with kerosene or diesel. One advantage of the “slow burn” cleaners is that you are allowing the fresh oil to clean over time vs. wasting oil with quick clean multiple flushes that might be completely unnecessary and expensive. Once you have “cleaned” your engine, regular oil changes will likely be enough and no more flushes should be required. However, if you are OCD like me, do an engine flush when you change your transmission/differential fluid/oil, every 30k/60k miles, or use the slow burn additive every other oil change
