I first visited the Dam age 20 in 1980, l stayed at Bobs hostel which l think is still there. My favourite city, l loved exploring and walking around at night and finding Bim Huis club, where l heard the great drummer Han Benninck. I was on a budget and used to get lovely hot snacks from the automat vending, you put a guilder in , pulled a drawer and got a hot croquette or something, lovely! I want to revisit but am staying in the UK for now with the crazy times we are in.

Em 2002 e 2003, fui viver em Amsterdam a trabalho... Por 1 ano e 3 meses, rodei a Hollanda , Rotherdam, Zamdam, e cidades vizinhas. Amsterdam, é linda, fechada por canais de águas, a cidade é construída abaixo do mar.... é mágica, é liberal, é tudo de bom. A mentalidade das pessoas é muito free, vale apena visitar.

Amsterdam is not in the same league as London and Paris, but it's still a pretty cool city. It's so picturesque. More importantly, it's diverse and laid back. I wouldn't spend a week there- 2 or 3 days would be enough.

The guide brings some fantastic mamories back when I was paying a visit to the picturesque and historical vibrant city. All these rumots about Dutch guys are true; tall, freckled, busy, open-minded, witty, proud. And all these windmills, clogs, tulips, canals, bicycles are fantastci, Venice of the North- true ! Cultural meltung pot, museums including my beloved Vincent's van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum of course, cafeterias, empty churches... far and few between motor vihicles... and much more.. No I am not a supporter of the channel... ha ha.. I purely snd simply do appreciate the beauty and cahrm of the wonderful city. Cheers guys !

Also religion is dying in Europe and in countries like the Netherlands 70% percent of inhabitants aren't even religious anymore. Europe is a free continent with free people. @@ek5891 Why do you think the Netherlands lost the war in the first place? They were great friends with Germany until they were attacked by ten all of the sudden. The Germans bombed one of their biggest cities called Rotterdam. Thousands upon thousands died and only two buildings of the entire original city remained upright. The Dutch didn’t want to surrender after that but the Germans threatened to bomb even more major cities like Amsterdam and The Hague if they didn’t. Also the US doesn’t even rank in the top ten most free countries according to the UN and the World Freedom Index. The top ten is almost entirely filled with Western-European countries. Also those firearms in America led to 419 school shootings in 2019 alone. That’s MORE than one PER DAY. How’s that something to be proud of? In Europe a school shooting is very rare and when one does occur it’s all over the news everywhere. American media couldn’t even keep up with the amount of dead children because of their law.
