This build is a re-release of the AMT Autocar Dump Truck DC-9964B. The paint is Dark Blue from Vallejo Mecha color line. I used:
Mr. Color GX112 super clear for the final. There are 4 coats of base color and 5 light clear coats.
-Iwata Eclipse HP-CS airbrush at about 14psi. - A very small amount of Mr Hobby leveling thinner for this type of paint (water base acrylic) from vallejo, as it comes pretty thin. I mix about 50/50 for the clear.
-Sanded using 3M Trizact film (1000, 1500, 3000). I
Polished using Meguiars ultimate compound and ultimate polish.
I sanded off the rivets before paint and drilled out holes for .025 rivets from Tichy Train Group. After final polish I then added the rivets. The wood rails that the dump box sits on are black walnut and the box extension wood is actually cherry (tight grain).
I attempted to try several techniques I have picked up from fellow KZbinrs, like chipping, clearing over the decals, interior gages (excellent tip from Joseph Cox), and some more subtle tips on airbrushing from Barbatos Rex.
