Nice build!!!! I was in love with this model back in 1988, never built it though, I felt like it was too much for my age. brings back memories.....

Thank you. It is a more challenging one for sure as it has a lot of parts.

Nice build. You're right, that color is period perfect. 👍 I'm working on the same kit but the dump box will be replaced by the old "big stick" wrecker body from the AMT Peterbilt. I hope it turns out as nice as yours!

Beautiful build. I built this model years ago (like 40 odd years ago!) and still have it. I was going to completely dismantle it as it is showing its age and parts are falling off of it. I was thinking about putting the dump body on something else, like the AMT old Western Star, that I also have. Then, make the Autocar into a heavy hauler, maybe.

Thanks a lot. It is an old kit. I was surprised that it went together pretty well for being so old. I have built a couple other old AMT trucks that did not build up as nice as this one.

High caliber work. I have a lot of AMT re-release trucks sealed. My two favorite kits are the Consolidated Freightways Double Trailers and the Mayflower Moving Van. I have both originals in my collection! I just preordered the re-release 1/8 scale Monogram Trans Am.

Thank you! That TA is so cool…wish it were 1/12th, as I have a small collection of 1/12 started. I am hoping to make a little scene with them some day.

@@heathjohnson4486 you know what is cool is the Tamiya 1/12 934 Porsche! Is that one in your collection? I am currently working on a Tamiya Ducati 1199 in 1/12 scale. Ton of fun.

Nice work with the weathering and extra detail. If you really take your time and do just the right amount of detail, it is easy to make an awesome looking model. And, that is exactly what you have done. Thanks for sharing.

That turned out awesome Heath! Great polishing job. That model now has a new home in that cabinet you built. Dan

Heath, very nicely done! I like you color choice (the blue works quite well with the aluminium dump body) and the red accent on the wheels is a nice offset. Your paint work looks quite well executed as does the decal application (I like the arrows being used on the hood top). Looks like just enough weathering to say "Yes, it's a working truck but, today, I'm on my way to a truck show.

Nice job Heath, the extra stuff with rivets, and using wood has come out great. Thanks for sharing. Cheers Bob 👍🍻

Nice looking build. Thanks for the close up shots, I'm building this and I've referred to your video a lot because the instructions are very vague and the part's are not numbered. I think AMT is short for Almighty Test.

Very nice. May I ask…I see hydraulic/water hoses attached to firewall. One seems to be going to water outlet at top of engine, but cannot determine where the other hose from firewall goes. Can you explain placement of hoses in engine bay as well as externally mounted lube refiners and hydraulic pump and tank? I cannot seem to find any schematics on these hoses on internet. I would like to replicate these details on my build. Thank you. David in Florida
@heathjohnson4486 Жыл бұрын
Hi David, I don’t recall what led me to the placement. I did find a good shot of one that might help you on the water lines…(see my link). It appears mine are completely not accurate. I have to admit, the hoses were kind of an afterthought when I worked on that one. Please share you finished result when you get your done. Happy Holidays! Did you drilled out the exhaust heat shield? Great job!

Thanks. The heat shield is not drilled out, rather I used a black gel pen to fill each of depressions.
