I like how Your Kirk movie Enterprise looks in the background, it reminds me of how beautifully it was illuminated in was in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.

I literally just finished this kit this evening after working on it straight for 3 weeks. Mine was a vintage from the 90’s with the “generations” packaging that I got from a local shop. I must say I did NOT enjoy building this kit what so ever. But now that she’s done she looks great. Going to put final clear coats on tomorrow and put it on the shelf. The original decals were yellowed so I got replacements from jt graphics, and the PNT sheet. I could not find Aztecs for it so I modified some excelsior Aztecs. They don’t quite match, but was better than nothing. What I can say is I had trouble with parts fitting properly and the warp assembly broke off 3 times, each warp nacelle broke off 1 time each and the saucer didn’t fit on the neck properly. I had to use gorilla glue on the warp assembly because it broke off so many times. After all the decals were applied by the way. Hopefully it holds otherwise I will need to get epoxy. I am glad that it’s finished. What a pain in my ass. Lol. The decals were a real pain because I had 3 different manufacturers and using some from the excelsior. But once I got through it all I am very pleased with it. It looks great and I’m happy to have it. Not a fan of the super wobbly stand it came with. Wish it was like the one in your kit with the metal rod. What a labor of love it was. Keep up the good work trekworks!

The excelsior was purposely designed to be ugly but surprisingly to the designers the fans actually actually liked this design including me. another great review!

I remember reading that the lower saucer was redone along with the neck . Aftermarket aztec decals made for the 1st issue of the kit may not work on the reissue.The Round 2 website should still have the list of changes that were done for this kit. I have the 1st issue that I haven't built yet . Can't wait to see you build .

R2 retooled 3 parts for this kit, The top of the secondary hull, the back of the neck is now curved like it is on the filming model and the bottom of the saucer.

@smsno1 I don't recall the original kit from a few years ago being that bad. I guess I'll find out when I get round to this one. You Tube won't let me post a link here but the decal sheet is by PNT Graphics and it is well worth getting for the extra details it gives you.

Does AMT also sell the paint and the glue for the kit? Can I use other paint and glue from other company, such as Academy? Thanks.

@marcosbee I had heard of an Aztec Paint template for this kit but not an actual decal set. Could you tell me who makes the set?

Not a stupid question at all. Most likely you'll have to go to your local hobby store or find one online. Not many model kits are carried in retail stores anymore. Usually around $35-40 is the going price for the kit.

@smsno1 Indeed upon closer inspection The def dish is not molded in clear. Not a biggie tho. I'll just grind down the Excelsior dish and make it work. I've come across some lamp rod which is flexible and will mount this model on that so not worried about the kit stand. That swivel mount by round 2 is pretty lame. If I was using them I would just mount the model straight. Good info mine friend :)

There are 2 different Deflector dishes within this model kit, which one is better?

Hi, I'm new to your KZbin channel, I cant find this model anywhere. I was wondering if you knew of a store that had this model?
@TrekWorks5 жыл бұрын
It's currently out of production so I doubt you'll find it in stores. I would check on Amazon or ebay. Hobbylinc USA has the aztec decal set for it on their website for a good price and they are hard to find too.

Thank you for the reply, I do have the first released kit from AMT but wanted this one as well. Thank you for the suggestion where to look! You do an awesome job on making your kits look so realistic. Thank you for making videos to help us novice modelers.

Acreation models make the aztec decals. On home page it's the 4th row down second column.

24 years later, that ship STILL looks like a beached whale no matter who models it! Those changes on the sides of the engineering -- designed to make it look more like the Enterprise-D AND to give an area where it was easy to "simulate" damage from the Nexus --, I'm convinced are the worst aspects of the modifications done for Star Trek: Generations. As much as I have issues with the Excelsior, it's far sleeker-looking than this refit. You look at the "Excelsior refit" (it was only ever shown TWICE suggesting they didn't build many of the Excelsior-class ships with the extra features this version had; the reality was they only reused the original model ONCE as Lakota and the rest of the "Excelsior ships from 199x were simply CG models of the original Excelsior) from below, looking at engineering, and it just does NOT look right. When you get producers who have no art aesthetic involved in these designs or people looking to save money, you get bad compromises like this one.

This kit, is a travesty. The saucer need so much putty around the impulse engines. The fit of the belly of the secondary hull is just disgraceful. IT DOES NOT BALANCE ON THE PIVOT STAND. Mine is 1/2 finished. The saucer to SO MUCH putty to make look presentable. The secondary hull sickens me, however. I think I might buy another, and follow your advice as we go? ps, that clear deflector dis is for excelsior, not the Enterprise B. The dish for the B is on th white plastic sprue.
