Amtrak 174 on Coast Starlight - Nice Hybrid K5LA

The Phase 7 paint scheme is becoming more of a common sight on the P42DC engines these days... If my memory serves me correctly the AMTK 174 was the first P42 to wear the Phase 7 scheme. Crazy to see how many others Amtrak has converted after this locomotive.
174 ran on the Coast Starlight back in August and I was able to grab a few shots of it in Los Angeles. Not too many of the P42's have a hybrid K5LA anymore... It's a breath of fresh air to hear one... this particular one still sounds pretty good!

@ Indeed you should’ve heard 89 bro…. She’s fouled now unfortunately #89 sounding good was very short lived but for a few months this year it was sporting a pristine Hybrid the best one in the fleet at the time. Idk if you remember or not but 86 had a Hybrid back in the days and the one 89 had was even better than that. Happy Turkey Day!

AMTK 57 used to have a really crisp NF hybrid K5LA. Got replaced with a RL though unfortunately in early 2023.
