born in '99 and live half an hour away from norcross, and the horn gives me tons of nostalgia

Now there's a movement afoot in Norcross to shut down ALL the horns--all the newbies who've moved in NEXT to the RR tracks now want to SILENCE the horns

I love the bell on the crossing. I know it's a mechanical, but I wonder what actual class type it is.

WOW! Now it is year of 2018. For me. It showed how much things change. I can says change is good. For the better. When I talk to people we always talk about the past and we can say it was a BLAST. Lot of Good and Bad times. Able to make great memories with family and friends also pets. Great video and good topic to talk about again. Can not WAIT for MORE VIDEOS from YOU. 10/30/2018

Wow! This was when my parents were kids, the camera quality too brings back so much nostalgia from 70's and 80's born people

F40's with a nice K5LA and a Southern GP30 with a P5(?). Can't get any better than that

Excellent vid! Seems like yesterday the F40s and Heritage cars were everywhere, now it's the bland GE genesis "P-somethings". The sweet sounding K5La horns are gradually being replaced by updated Nathan horns that sound similar but nowhere as melodious.

wow norcross was a sleepy town back then, not anymore

Notice how LOW all the crossings were--EVEN at Holcomb Bridge! No "Stuck trucks" then!!! WHY did NS RAISE THE TRACKS so high? That's what's caused all the trucks now getting stuck!
@Xnewyork216 жыл бұрын
your never gonna hear a K5LA like that again. sweet horn on both trains!
@GTRailroadVideos16 жыл бұрын
I did see it back then, actually quite a few years before this was filmed...almost every day! Didn't make videos back then, but I recorded every one on audio cassette!

Old school Amtrak.....wow. loving the horn like crazy
@boweandrew313 жыл бұрын
The Indian railways have train panel rooms that operate like train dispatcher offices in train stations like what the southern railway did all across the south did for decades

I'll watch the Amtrak train about 1000x, jus to hear that horn blaring. I'm mad cuz i wasnt born in the 80's to see the great Amtrak trains of that time

We need high speed ELECTRIFIED rail. Freight needs to be moved high speed too. If both those things are acomplished, our economy problems should be gone.

I love the high hood Geep 30! If there ever was an "Honorary Steam Engine," there it is! The F40s are great too. Man, the 80s were good train watching times. At least the diesels were interesting!

It may be again, if the gas prices keep going up and up!
@murjax16 жыл бұрын
I think it has to happen. Our economy depends on it IMO. Just watch the news and see how the airlines are failing.
