Amtrak: HHP-8 Cab Car

Taken 2/10/24.
Seen here is Amtrak Bomardier-Alstom HHP-8 Cab Car #9750 leading a train of Amfleets (with Siemens ACS-64s #637 trailing).
This test train made a round trip between Philadelphia and New York as trains #865 and #866 making simulated stops at Trenton, Metropark, Newark Liberty International Airport, and Newark.

One reason I'd love for them to comeback is to hear those horns for another 5 to 10 years after the OG Acela's go

It’s being tested for potential use on the Keystone Corridor, mainly to replace those Amfleet Cab Cars. Folks are saying these might see service soon, though maybe don’t quote me on that 😅

From the looks of all the text runs they’ve done with HHP-8C 9750 I’d say the chances of them re entering service are high.

How did you went from NYP to Princeton Junction without any issues and or traffic? Did you drove or took a straight shot on the train? Amazing catch

This is to all of you serious RAIL FANS out there!!!! Here's what I would do if I had some MECHANICAL ENGINEERS WITH ME FROM ENGLAND, OVER HERE. I'd strip the HHP'S of their Electrical insides and put a TURBO ENGINE INSIDE OF IT!!! Turbo is comparable to Electrical speed on the rails!! And of course, I'd keep the Horns that came with engine!!!! They are everybodies favorite ,in today's age!! The Horns are splendid!!!! But that's what i would do if AMTRAK permitted the ENGLISH MECHANICS from England to come over here to covert them into Turbos, since Amtrak took off their Pantographs. Boy, would they give the ACELA a run for the money!!!! That's why you don't see DOUBLE ENGINES ON AMTRAK TRAINS unless They're going to Harrisburg. They know that ACS'S ARE SO DYNAMIC in speed& horsepower that they don't even want the METROLINER CAB CAR to have pantographs on them!!!!! Nor the HHP'S!!!!! The acelas would have to maintain the 150mph the whole trip keep the ACS'S AT BAY, since on the schedule the ACS'S FOLLOW BEHIND THEM. AMTRAK only allows the ACS'S to go 125mph. Because the Metroliner cabs are having more and more issues, so these are to supplement/replace them
